Our Friends of the Library BBQ Fundraiser is coming up on Thursday, October 1st!

Plates are $10 and include BBQ, a roll, baked beans, slaw, and dessert. Pick up is from 4:00–5:30 PM.

When you buy a plate, you’re doing more than getting a good meal. You’re helping support the free programs and activities offered right here at the library. ❤️📚

Happy sunflower season 🌻

Sunflower season peaks in late summer, typically from July through September, bringing vibrant color, heliotropic behavior, and inspiring poetry.

Fascinating Facts

🌻 Heliotropism: Young sunflowers track the sun from east to west, but mature flowers permanently face east to warm up faster and attract more pollinators.

🌻 Composite Heads: What looks like a single large flower is actually a cluster of 1,000 to 2,000 tiny individual flowers called florets.

🌻 Record Heights: Standard plants grow 6 to 10 feet tall, but record-breaking sunflowers have exceeded 30 feet.
