Weather permitting the stop lines and crosswalks will be repainted.

10/20/2023 5:00pm.

I will be turning off the comments on this post. This was an informational post. Thanks for all the input.

Board meetings are always held at the village hall on the second Tuesday of the month .

UPDATE:

It’s good to see engagement on our post. This post was informational and we hope that your comments will be productive and respectful. The police department has no say in where traffic control devices are placed.

As some of you have noticed there is a new STOP sign at Main St. And Jibben.

The Board decided to place the sign there based on several factors.

We receive multiple complaints of vehicles speeding through town.

There is a cross walk at Jibben leading into the park.

We understand that this is new to everyone and we will be monitoring the area in the coming days and weeks. If you have complaints or concerns feel free to reach out to any of the village board members or attend a board meeting.

Thanks,
Chief Price

Thank you to the Forman Valley Community Foundation for their continued support of our village.

The Forman Valley Community Foundation (FVCF) is pleased to announce a $29,980 grant was issued to the Village of Green Valley. The grant will be used for a new pavilion in Centennial Park between the baseball and softball diamonds. The John D. Phillips and Frances O'Connell Funds within the FVCF provided the money needed for this request. The generosity of our communities to the FVCF provides funding for our grants. Pictured is Green Valley Mayor, Keith Beal receiving the check from Dirk Heinhorst, FVCF president.

UPDATE:

Thanks to several residents providing our office information we have identified the individuals responsible for the damage. The bathrooms have been repaired and are open for use.

We hope that this is an isolated incident and encourage anyone who witnesses any vandalism to message our page.

The Village of Green Valley has focused on improving the park over the last several years. You may have noticed recently that there was a new bathroom placed in the park. It didn’t take long for the bathrooms to be vandalized. Unfortunately due to this vandalism the bathrooms will be closed until further notice.

If you have any information about the individual/s that were responsible for this damage please message this page.

Local police and fire departments just received a message from the North Pole. According to Peppermint the Elf, Santa and the reindeer are expected to fly into Tazewell County at 8:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

The Jolly Old Elf made a list, and he checked it twice. He was very pleased with the good behavior of the boys and girls of Tazewell County this year.

Apparently, Santa’s belt was a little tighter than normal last year when he returned to the workshop. Peppermint asked for the children to only set out two cookies this Christmas, and maybe just a couple carrots for the reindeer.

Peppermint said the students at the North Pole Elf-ementary are out of school for the holiday, just like all of you. Though you’re taking a break from learning the Elf-abet, she wants you to remember to practice good behavior and to be kind to others.

Tazewell County 911 - TC3 will receive a message just before Santa’s arrival. You can hear the dispatcher broadcast Santa’s location to local officers by listening to the scanner app "5-0 Radio Police Scanner - Tazewell County Sheriff” at 8pm.

A couple of quick reminders for our Raider Community about bus safety.

Please make sure you are aware and alert when driving around school buses on and off of school property.

Passing a stopped school bus with the stop arm out and lights flashing is illegal at any location.

THANK YOU for helping us keep our students safe!

10/05/2022

Our office has received numerous complaints regarding School Bus Stop Arm violations this year.

What you may not know is that Midwest Central School buses are equipped with video equipment and capture images and video of these violations. Citations will be issued to violators.

Please stay alert while in school zones, be mindful of the 20 mph school zone and obey all traffic control devices.

We were made aware of a threat against the middle school around midnight. There is a lot of inaccurate information out on social media regarding this matter. Please know that the school and our law enforcement agencies jumped into immediate action.

Law enforcement in Manito, Mason County, and Tazewell County have been involved and have investigated the claim. Law enforcement agencies have informed us that there is no credible evidence to support the accusations. However, we have asked the parents of the accused student to keep said student home today and tomorrow for their safety.

In addition, Tazewell County police department has provided us a large police presence today to offer additional safety and security to our students.

The amount of fireworks disturbance calls we have received already this year is by far more than we have ever received. And it’s 2 days from the 4th.

Ordinances and laws are in place to protect individuals and their property. We are all fans of fireworks done in the proper setting by professionals.
Let’s leave it to them.

The basketball court renovation is almost complete. If things go as planned they will be ready to use tomorrow.

Special thanks to everyone who has chipped in to get this project done. Some of these folks aren’t on FB so if you see them around town make sure you say thanks. Adam Reinbeck, Steve Baker and Brittany Mackey.

And most importantly the Foreman Valley Community Foundation. Without their generous grant none of this would be possible.
