The Hispanic Vote

The Hispanic Vote Mission: To educate, inform and engage the community with the goal of increasing Hispanic voter participation. But we knew we could not do this alone.

In 2009, a small group of civic minded Cuban Americans came to the realization that Hispanics, in Florida, needed a voice and the Cuban Americans for a Better Florida (CABF) was born. We were formed as a non-partisan group, with members from all political parties and perspectives. The CABF educated ourselves on what the Hispanic community was all about and we came to a conclusion that educating Hi

spanic voters regarding the local races and candidates would serve as a valuable civic service. Thus, The Hispanic Vote was born. Like the CABF, The Hispanic Vote was formed as a non-partisan group, with members from all political parties and perspectives. The Hispanic Vote endorses candidates and in the last few election cycles, The Hispanic Vote has issued numerous endorsement letters, printed hundreds of thousands of palm cards, placed numerous ads in several publications, and covered just about every polling station, across the county, in support of our candidates. In the last election cycle, 85% of candidates who received The Hispanic Vote endorsement; won their elections. The Hispanic Vote is currently in Broward County, Palm Beach County, and in Southwest Florida. We must never forget that we are Hispanic by birth, American by the grace of God and we must always practice one of our most under-utilized rights…our right to vote.

She’s recusing herself after she approved the expansion and she attempted to sneak the vote on the consent agenda to avoid public awareness and discussion. This doesn’t pass the smell test…

This is becoming a major, or is it “mayor”, problem in Palm Beach County. Our PAC is all too familiar with Baxter’s questionable ethics. In the past members of The Hispanic Vote have been pressured by Mayor Baxter to engage in unethical practices.

Another disappointing setback from leadership in Palm Beach County for the Hispanic community. While some progress has been made, our local elected officials still leave us feeling marginalized. The ongoing unethical behavior of Mayor Sara Baxter is, unfortunately, nothing new—but what’s especially concerning is the continued lack of accountability.

Thank you to everyone who joined us Thursday night for our February Community Leaders Meeting.

We had the honor of welcoming Palm Beach County Commissioner Maria Marino as our guest speaker. She spoke about important topics like property taxes, public transportation, and public safety, answered questions, and kept everyone engaged throughout the evening.

We also took a few minutes to celebrate one of our board members, Brandon Cabrera, on his birthday 🎉 and thank him for generously sponsoring the event.

We’re grateful for our community and look forward to our next meeting on Thursday, March 26th - save the date!
