It's Potapalooza at the Little Seed Library! Come pick up some free flower pots from in front of the Little Seed Library. A neighbor and I recently cleared out our sheds, and don't have a use for these. The library is running a little low on seeds, so consider bringing a seed donation with you when you stop by!

We're about 6 weeks out from the predicted last frost, which means it's about time to start your tomatoes and peppers! There are quite a few varieties available in the Little Seed Library. Which do you plan on trying this year?

Not sure how many seeds to take? Multiply the number of plants you'd like in your garden by three. So if you'd like two roma tomato plants, it's a good idea to take 6 seeds, and leave the rest for others to try.

The Little Seed Library is open for the 2022 season, with some changes!
Dividing seeds into individual packets made it hard to keep the library stocked last year, so I'm trying a new method called "Pass the Packet."
Bring a seed packet and an envelope home, separate out the seeds you'll use, and return the packet so that others have the chance to pick up some seeds. Happy planting!

When we act as a community we end up inspiring positive change in the individuals, households, schools and businesses around us. When we get together, we're far more likely to influence local council and state government than when we act alone. And on a personal level, it's so important to feel held and supported by a group of like minded folk who keep us going even when it all feels like too much.

Community action is the answer, even if our gatherings are held outside/online and are socially distanced for now.

Thanks Rob Hopkins for this quote from your excellent book 'From what is to what if', on how imagination can take us toward a sustainable way of living.

What exciting things is your community doing to make the world a better place?

Planning on doing any spring cleaning this weekend? Consider looking for seeds to save, like these beans that had grown too high to harvest or this forgotten pumpkin that's looking spookier than it ever did last Halloween 😱! Not sure if they'll sprout? You can do a "germination test" by placing a few in a plastic bag or container with a wet paper towel. If they sprout, you've got some seeds to use and share with your neighbors!

Have you started any seeds yet? How are they coming along?

Big thanks to Brooke for sharing a pic of her seedlings to the right!

On the left is the Seed Librarian's elaborate (but not yet cat proof 🤦‍♀️) seed starting set-up.
