Lions Clubs โ€“ Ready to Help, Worldwide

Whenever a Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller. That's because we help where help is needed โ€“ in our own communities and around the world โ€“ with unmatched integrity and energy. The World's Largest Service Club Organization

Our 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most ef

fective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children and adults who need eyeglasses, with seniors who donโ€™t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet.

Honoring a Life of Service ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒŽ

On Saturday, May 2nd, members of the Greenbelt Lions Club had the honor of officiating a heartfelt Missing Lion Ceremony in memory of our beloved Lion Tim Edwards. Nearly 100 family members, friends, and fellow Lions gathered to celebrate a life so deeply rooted in service and compassion.

Representing the Greenbelt Lions Club were King Lion Trenda Rusher and Lion Margaret Boles, who joined Lion Timsโ€™s wife, Lion Allita Irby, in paying tribute to a man whose commitment to community service never wavered. Lion Tim was remembered not only for his devotion to initiatives such as White Cane Days, Blood Drives, Vision Screenings, and our annual Holiday Gift Wrapping at Greenbelt Plaza Mallโ€”but also for his leadership as a past King Lion of the Greenbelt Lions Club and his remarkable gift for fundraising in support of our mission.

Lion Tim didnโ€™t just wear the Lions emblemโ€”he truly lived what it stands for.

The ceremony concluded with a moving tribute as King Lion Trenda Rusher rang the bell three times, honoring Lion Timโ€™s legacy of Service, Fellowship, and Friendship.

Though he is no longer with us, his light continues to guide and inspire us all.

Rest in peace, Lion Tim. Your roar will forever echo in our hearts. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŒŽ

On April 25th, Lions from District 22-C brought their signature service to Maryland Day at the University of Maryland. Partnering with students from the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, Lions from the College Park, Damascus, Greenbelt, and Washington Midtown Clubs provided free vision, hearing, and preschool vision screenings to nearly 100 community members.

The Lions Community Outreach Foundation (LCOF) Health Screening Mobile Unit operated from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., welcoming families as they explored the lively campus event. Parents and children alike stopped by to take advantage of these important health services, making the day both impactful and engaging.

This strong collaboration between Lions and University of Maryland student volunteers created a meaningful day of serviceโ€”truly a roaring Lions family affair.

๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŽ Thank You, Greenbelt Community! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’š

On behalf of the Greenbelt Lions Club, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of neighbors, families, and friends who stopped by our Holiday Gift Wrap Station. Your smiles, kind words, and generous donations truly warmed our hearts and made this season even more meaningful.

Because of your support, 100% of the donations will go directly toward Lions service projects that support Vision Assistance, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Disaster Relief, the Environment, Hunger and Food Distribution, Toys and Clothing Drives, Mental Health and moreโ€”helping us continue to serve those in need throughout our community and beyond.

We are so grateful for your generosity and look forward to welcoming you back next year for another season of holiday cheer and service. We also appreciate our dear friends from the Lions Clubs of College Park, Mt. Rainier-Brentwood, and University Park who helped us pull it all together from beginning to end.

If youโ€™d like to learn more about Lions Clubs International or are interested in becoming a member, we would love to hear from you!

Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen as it moves through the Caribbean, with communities in Jamaica and nearby islands preparing for potential devastation. Lions are standing ready to help.

LCIF is mobilizing funds, including a US$100,000 Major Catastrophe Grant for relief in Jamaica, to empower Lions in the impacted areas to help their communities recover.

Through LCIFโ€™s Disaster Relief Grants, Lions are equipped to respond swiftly when natural disasters strike. Your donation today ensures we have the resources to support recovery efforts as soon as help is needed. Together, we turn compassion into action.
