ts of community policing, the department continually seeks ways to make its officers more effective by placing them in close contact with the people we serve. POLICE PATROLS:

Apart from the normal police patrols, the department also deploys bicycle patrols, school resources officers in our schools, public / private partnerships with businesses to share the cost of officers, and a crime prevention officer who engages businesses, homeowner associations, and others in ways to protect themselves and their possessions. The department employs 54 sworn officers and 15 support personnel who serve a community of approximately 22,000 residents over 6.5 square miles. Greenbelt is situated in northern Prince George's County, approximately 12 miles northeast of Washington, D.C., 26 miles southwest of Baltimore, and 22 miles west of Annapolis, the state capital.

Yesterday, the Greenbelt Police met with residents of the Greenbelt Station community to discuss a series of vandalism incidents. A man has been arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000 after allegedly vandalizing four homes, two of which were targeted multiple times. Police first arrested him for vandalism on August 6, 2026, and again on August 28th.

REMINDER - LABOR DAY ROAD CLOSURE!
Next Monday, September 7th, the City of Greenbelt will host its annual Labor Day Parade. Crescent Road, between Westway and Ridge Road, will be closed to all traffic during the event. The closure is expected to last from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Man Arrested Again for Malicious Destruction of Property.

Greenbelt Police have arrested a man for the second time this month in connection with a series of vandalism incidents involving homes in the Greenbelt Station community.
Nghia Trong Le was arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property Over $1,000 after
allegedly vandalizing four homes, including two that were targeted on multiple occasions. Le was previously arrested on August 6, 2026, in connection with similar incidents.
Investigators determined that Le targeted residences near Greenbelt Station Parkway by throwing rocks through windows and then fleeing the area on foot.
On August 28, 2026, officers responded to another report of vandalism consistent with the previous incidents. Video provided by a resident showed a suspect throwing rocks at a window before fleeing.
Officers identified the suspect as Le, located him, and arrested him.
The combined damage from the incidents is estimated to be several thousand dollars.

**Attempt to Identify Suspects Involved in Non-Contact Shooting**

We are investigating a non-contact shooting that took place on July 27, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM. Two of the suspects involved were captured on camera, with one of them exchanging gunfire in front of 6109 Breezewood Court, Greenbelt, MD 20770.

**THEFT SUSPECT – ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY**

On August 18, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a male suspect entered Marshalls at 6000 Greenbelt Road and concealed merchandise valued between $600 and $700 in a laundry basket. Initially, the suspect was observed wearing a light-colored distressed vest over a dark-colored shirt, dark-framed glasses, and gray pants. While in the store, he altered his appearance and was later seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and dark sunglasses.

The suspect exited the store without paying for the merchandise and fled on foot toward the parking garage. Marshalls Organized Retail Crime personnel noted that the suspect has been seen at this location on previous occasions and is believed to be involved in prior theft-related incidents.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information regarding his identity is urged to contact Officer Graham #224 at 301-474-2700 and reference Case #26-2006.
