For the first time in over four decades, Maryland’s 5th Congressional District is an open seat. This historic transition represents a pivotal moment for Southern Maryland, as we prepare to elect a successor to longtime Representative Steny Hoyer. The decisions made by our next representative will influence everything from federal investment in our local infrastructure to the protection of our core democratic values.

As a club dedicated to informed civic engagement, the Eleanor & Franklin Roosevelt Democratic Club is proud to sponsor a major Congressional Candidate Forum hosted by our partners at the South County Democrat Cub.

With more than 20 candidates vying for the Democratic nomination, this is a unique opportunity to hear directly from the frontrunners and community leaders seeking to be your voice in Washington.

❄️ URGENT: February’s Meeting Postponed (Inclement Weather)

Due to the incoming inclement weather and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our members and our guest speaker, we are postponing tomorrow’s meeting (February 22nd) at the Greenbriar Community Building.

While we were very much looking forward to our briefing with James Williams Jr. and discussing our recent "Blue Pulse" survey results, your safety is our top priority. We want to ensure that everyone can attend and participate without the risk of hazardous travel.

What happens next: We are currently coordinating with Mr. Williams and the facility to secure a makeup date. We will send an email with a concrete date and time as soon as it is confirmed.

Our vice presidents Kat Choma, Pat Wickersty, and James Whipple attended the Prince George's County Democrat Central Committee's Ploughman's and Fisherman's Fundraiser Dinner and got to meet First Lady Dawn Moore.

It is great to see our local representatives working with grassroots organizations like ours to end the Republican attacks on our liberties.

We will have an activity for this meeting entitled "Panel Discussion: Effects of Trump Policies on Workers and the Labor Union Response". We have invited labor leaders from our area to participate in this panel.

The meeting will be at the Greenbriar Terrace Room 7600 Hanover Parkway, Greenbelt MD 20770.
