Greenbrier Police Department has received multiple calls today regarding a text message circulating in our area.
The message claims you have a court date scheduled in the coming days and includes a link to pay a fine. The message is being sent from an out-of-country phone number.

This is a scam.

Please remember:
• Do not click on the link
• Do not reply to the message
• Block the number
• Delete the text

If you receive a message like this, disregard it. Court officials will not contact you by text message to demand payment.

If you receive a letter like this in the mail, it is a scam. Do not respond to it. We are also getting a lot of calls in regards to scammers posing as Greenbrier Police Department advising you of missing federal jury duty. Stating you will have a warrant if you don’t pay a fine immediately. Again, this is a scam as well. Just remember you should NEVER pay or be asked to pay anything with a gift card.
