It is with great sadness that Putnam County CERT shares the passing of one of our members, David Hilberry.

David joined CERT in 2021 alongside his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Hilberry. His service to others extended well beyond CERT. David proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran and also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for many years.

We are grateful for David’s service to our team, our community, and our country.

Our thoughts are with Bobbie and the entire Hilberry/Owen family during this difficult time.

View David Paul Hilberry's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

In the first 10 days of July alone, 3 children have tragically died in hot cars. 💔🌡️

In scorching summer temps, these preventable tragedies can happen in a matter of minutes.

Parents, remind yourselves that NONE of these factors will keep a child SAFE in a car:
⏱️ Running a "quick" errand
☁️ Parking in the shade
🪟 Leaving the windows cracked

An incoming heat dome could bring triple-digit temperatures to millions of people through the Fourth of July holiday weekend. 🌡️🥵

It's a critical time to remind yourself that NONE of these things will keep a child safe in a vehicle. ⤵️

📣 Know the difference! As temperatures climb across Indiana, it's important to know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat exhaustion is your body's warning sign and can often be treated by getting to a cool place, drinking water, and resting. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency that can cause confusion, unconsciousness, or worse, and requires calling 911 immediately. Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks if you're outside, and never ignore the warning signs! Acting quickly can save a life! ☀️🥵
