DePauw is a fully residential campus, meaning that one of the values inherent in the DePauw experience is living and learning in community. We believe that, at a liberal arts college, learning doesn’t end when students step out of the classroom or laboratory, but extends into our residence halls, student apartments, houses and Greek chapter facilities. The campus living experience begins with firs
t-year students residing with their classmates upon their arrival and ends with many seniors coming together to live in a senior neighborhood in their final year at DePauw. As students move from their first year to senior year, they have the option of progressively more autonomous living styles. First-year students and sophomores will generally live in more structured environments, with juniors and seniors having opportunities for greater independence with styles that include suites, apartments and houses. We believe that successful communities are created based on relationships; built through living units, athletic teams, academic programs, Greek-letter and student organizations. With this as our premise, Campus Living and Community Development places a primary emphasis on who students live with and on building healthy, vibrant, intellectual communities within these neighborhoods.
