Fundraiser for Burn Camp for Injured Youth!

We're running a gun raffle during the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin 85th Convention that takes place June 7-9. All proceeds from the raffle will go directly towards Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, Inc. summer camp for injured youth who have sustained burn injuries. Great advice!

Snow & ice can block furnace vents, dryer vents, and fireplace vents, which can cause carbon monoxide to build up in your home. Take a couple of minutes to remove snow from these areas around your home.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odorless, and colorless gas and is known as a silent killer. Make sure you have working CO alarms installed in your home. Suspect CO poisoning? Evacuate the area and call 9-1-1 right away.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. We would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible, hard-working women of the Greendale Fire Department, both past and present, for their strength, resilience, and dedication to the department and the community.

Firefighter/Paramedic Madison Rowe has been with the Greendale Fire Department for almost three years, and since that time she’s been a valuable member to our fire prevention team, public relations team, a preceptor for EMT students, and helping to establish our Mobile Integrated Health team.

The commendable efforts from our Sisters and Brothers of the Greendale Fire Department and its neighboring departments this morning serve as a poignant reminder of the pressing staffing challenges that persist.

The fire that occurred this morning happened shortly after our shift change, during which the Greendale Fire Department was staffed at an abnormally high level. This increased staffing enabled us to dispatch both a fire engine and a fire truck to the scene promptly, bypassing the need to await resources from neighboring departments (assuming their availability and absence of concurrent calls).

The maximum number of personnel assigned to a shift is six, a scenario that only occurs approximately 61 days annually. Had this fire occurred at any other time or if today’s crew had been engaged in another call (with overlapping calls occurring approximately 27% of the time), the outcome of the incident could have been significantly different to our crews, the homeowner, and possibly surrounding homes.
