Benedict J. Kosmatka Obituary - Greendale, WI | Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Ben Kosmatka, a long-time Greendale resident. Ben was known to most of us as the face of the Greendale Police & Fire Commission, President and Secretary for 50 years!!! He was a friend, a mentor and an all-around great guy. He stayed in contact with us after he retired from the Commission, checking in as good friends do.

We have a new face on dayshift!
Jenny Conte has been a 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher with the Village of Greendale for 20 years! She has been on early shift (4pm to midnight) for that entire time! Jenny is a trainer and in charge of trouble shooting our record management system.
Day shift is thrilled to have finally stolen her (she passed days at least 6 times)!

So, what hasn't 2020 affected?
Shop with a Cop was a virtual event this year. Ten families in Greendale in need of some extra holiday cheer were chosen to shop online with gift cards generously donated by the Education Foundation of Greendale, the Greendale Lions Foundation, Birmingham Recycling and Walmart.
Officers Bohl, Vlaj, Sergeant Noster and Chief Rosenow then ordered, wrapped and delivered those gifts!

They truly will scam anything...

A fraud alert was issued last week aimed at Americans eager to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Here are 5 things to know.

1. Vaccine will be available in limited quantities- turn to trusted resources for guidance.
2. Do not buy any kind of COVID-19 vaccine or treatment on the internet or from an online pharmacy.
3. Vaccine will be provided to patients at no cost. Providers, though, will be permitted to charge an administration fee and have that fee reimbursed by insurance companies.
4. Those attempting fraud are using telemarketing calls, text messages, social media platforms, and door to door visits to conduct COVID-19 related scams.
5. Do not give cash, or any form of payment to suspicious callers. Do not give out personal, medical or financial information.

While you're busy doing your online shopping, consider taking the time to have a heart-to-heart conversation with your teens and parents/grandparents about giving out personal information. The young and older amongst us are at a greater risk to falling victim to scams, especially during the holiday season when everyone wants to help everyone. You can even consider this heart-to-heart one of their gifts!

Thank you for all you do in these challenging times.
Please give a shout out to Officer Duhn. Early yesterday morning I called the police department to ask if they could send an officer to a Greendale residence to unlock a car door for an elderly neighbor. In no time Officer Duhn was on the spot and working hard to get the door unlocked using multiple tools at his disposal. He made the neighbor very, very happy and I was impressed with him as well. Thank you, Greendale Police Department!
My thanks and gratitude to Officer Huhn who was so kind and patient in helping me with a car problem, I appreciate it so much. Barbara Marek
