Drop off a toy for Nova’s Birthday at the Village of Greendale Police Department for the Ronald McDonald House and be entered to win a gift basket to Vintage 38 Wine Bar & Craft Beer Lounge! Happy Birthday Nova! 🎁

Today is K9 Nova's birthday!
And, he gave this a lot of thought.
He decided against gifts.
He doesn't want treats (okay, maybe one).
He even vetoed a quarantine birthday parade (whhaaattt?!).
So, what DOES he want?
He wants YOU to win his gift basket of Vintage 38 wines!
In order to win this gift of wines, K9 Nova is asking you to drop off a toy (with your name & phone#) at the Police Department. These toys will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of southeastern Wisconsin, and your name will be entered for a drawing to win the wine basket...it's a win-win!
Let's get the toys here by Wednesday, November 25th!

Congratulations to Captain Dean Kozelek on his retirement after 25 years at the Greendale Fire Department! Dean basically “grew up” at the Greendale FD and some of his fondest memories include his interactions with the community; from playing Santa at the Tree Lighting Ceremony & participating in Greendale Events, to putting on demonstrations for kids at school...one that resulted in a 7yr old girl saving her family from a fire due what she learned during their presentation. He’s made an impact on his fellow firefighters as well as the Greendale residents. Dean looks forward to continuing with charity work by getting involved with Meals on Wheels and Road to Recovery which transports cancer patients to their doctors appointments, he also plans to continue as a Burn Camp Counselor.
Thank you Dean for your 25 years of dedicated service to Greendale and Congratulations on your retirement!

Village of Greendale Police Department

Did you know....it's National Public Works week!
In case you were unaware, these guys & gals carry an incredible workload...it seems as though they have a hand in everything in the Village!
Greendale is one of a handful of cities that maintains green space (and with our own Forestry dept), we have a dump that seems to be almost always open (another rarity), road repairs, plowing, garbage collection, event set-up and maintenance (the list goes on).
Needless to say, Greendale would not be Greendale without our Public Works Department. While you begin to venture outside once more, stop a worker and say "Thanks".

Thank you for your donations

Today we picked up 8,000 (wow) face masks donated by Red Crab - Juicy Seafood. These masks will be sent to the Unified Emergency Operations Center (all Milwaukee County municipalities) stockpile. We need you to donate any PPE that you have and Healthcare could use. Donations are still being accepted at Wisconsin State Fair. Besides donating PPE, want to help? #StayHomeSaveLives

The department is participating in the New Rochelle Autism Patch Challenge

As of 2019 over 300 agencies nationwide have accepted the challenge.

The New Rochelle Autism Patch Challenge was started by the New Rochelle Police Department and the New Rochelle PBA, (Westchester County, NY) on 09 February 2017. It was created by New Rochelle Police Detective and PBA President Christopher Greco, who is the father of an Autistic child. Detective Greco also founded Christopher's Voice - a chartiable foundation for autistic children.

The primary goals of the Autism Patch Challenge are to promote Autism Awareness and Acceptance in every community throughout the country by creating and attaching a custom Autism Awareness Police Patch to at least one police car within each community’s police department during the month of April. As an alternative, creating an Autism Shoulder Patch is great too! We encourage all participating agencies to review their training protocols when dealing with autistic individuals and to Implement new or improved training for all officers. Any fundraising done we recommend be donated to LOCAL autism organizations, programs and charities.

Each April the world celebrates World Autism Awareness Day and on that day it is our hope that the world will see that America’s Police Departments joined forces to demonstrate its continued support and love for all those living with Autism. Please join the New Rochelle Police Department during the month of April and accept the New Rochelle Police Autism Patch Challenge. Once the challenge is accepted please pay it forward by challenging three other police jurisdictions. And of course, please post your challenges and photos to the New Rochelle Autism Patch Challenge page. If your agency already has Autism Awareness vehicles please post photos and your agency name.

If you are located in the Westchester County area you can order your magnet patches from The Cruisers Division 420 Mount Pleasant Ave; Mamaroneck, NY 10543; 914-381-7700. Not sold to general public. Law Enforcement agencies only.

If you would like to donate to our local chairty, please visit Christopher's Voice facebook back or Christopher's Voice .org

The department had a unique situation and possible basement fire yesterday morning. The department was called to a residence for smoke in the basement. Upon arrival the initial crew found a light haze in the basement but no active fire. After an extensive investigation. A member of the engine crew noticed some ash by a basement window. There was a brown paper bag up against the glass block basement window. The sun had actually started the bag on fire with the use of the glass block magnification.

I just want to say Thank You to everyone that came to my retirement send off today. I am humbled by everyone who showed up to bid me farewell. It was awesome to see so many people who came from other departments and those that have been retired from the fire service for many years. I want to thank Chief Kenten Kais for putting together a “send off” that I have never witnessed before, it was mind blowing! I also want to thank the members of the Greendale Fire Department that put this all together with the video and preparation of the food for all to enjoy. I guess this is why this is called a Brotherhood!
Lastly to my family and friends for being there to participate in the celebration.
Signing off
