This month, we are hosting the works of John Pooler here in our library. Please stop in to see his amazing paintings. If you'd like to consider purchasing, please send an email to [email protected] and work with him personally.
"I am John D. Pooler, a native of Scarborough, Maine, a Baptist minister who served the Greene Central Baptist Church from September 1991 to October 2003 at which time I retired. While visiting a parishioner I met Fran Bromiley(Dick Bromiley's widow) who invited me to her Art class at the Harpursville Senior Center. Since I had always wanted to learn to paint, I started to attend her class in 2004. I have been painting there on Thursday mornings ever since and give leadership since Fran's death a couple years ago.
I paint a variety of subjects, but use acrylics as my medium. My subjects are taken from personal pictures I have taken, magazines, calendars, newspapers, cards, or other prints or paintings. I particularly like to paint animals, birds(especially eagles), seascapes, and landscapes. A favorite painting is of moose on a 15 lb antler that my nephew found while hunting in Maine. I find much joy in painting and encouraging others."
