Update 7/20/2026 - 9:30 AM.
•Still 388 customers without power.
•NYSEG has over 400 crew members working the region to restore.

As of 10:30 am restoration is anticipated by 8pm.

If anyone needs water jugs can be filled by the front door of the Town Hall.

Dry Ice and bottled water are being distributed at the Lisle Fire Station and the Northern Broome Senior Center located in Whitney Point.

Storm July 18, 2026

Sunday 7/19 am 616 (roughly a third) out of 1825 customers without power.
2pm - that number is now 1324 (roughly 3/4) of the 1825 customers out.

NYSEG is working but this will take time.

Town of Greene Highway worked last night after the storm. More clean up was done this morning.

More work to be done after NYSEG clears lines on several roads.

The highway crew wishes to share their sincere thanks to the community. Residents were very understanding and many pitched in to help clear debris so roads can be opened.

Be cautious of “widow makers”. There still are loose branches in trees that will still fall in the next few days and weeks.

County Rd 32 by Jackson Hill Rd. One lane open.
Update: 5pm 7/19 reported open both lanes.

The Town of Greene is joining the Town of Cincinnatus, and other local Municipalities, in demanding that the Public Service Commission Agency address the rampant increases in energy costs that are having such devastating impact on so many of our residents. The Town of Greene's resolution and letter to the Commission are below.

This Wednesday, July 15th at 6:00 pm during our regularly scheduled Town Board meeting, we will have Tyler Oliver, Economic Development Director for Commerce Chenango, give a presentation to the board on the State run Pro-Housing Community Program. Community members interested in this topic are invited to join us at the meeting.

An innovative policy designed to reward local governments that are working hard to address New York’s housing crisis.
