After learning of Dr. Luttrell's big win for East Division Principal of the Year, Tusculum View planned a surprise celebration for her! On October 5, as Dr. Luttrell arrived at school, she was showered with a special banner and found Students and Staff wearing all their green and yellow.
Later that morning, the big surprise happened. Officer Larry called Dr. Luttrell outside as a quick diversion, while everyone gathered in the hallways. Many students worked hard at home on special celebration signs and messages for our Principal of the Year. Dr. Luttrell received a crown and sash to wear, and as she entered the building to a special red carpet and walked through the parade, she was showered with applause and love! Of course, we had her favorite "Rocky" song playing... "Eye of the Tiger"!
Thank you to all our families for helping make this a special surprise and making that Monday a great day for Dr. Luttrell! She does so much for our school, and we wanted her to feel just how loved and appreciated she is by our entire school family. We are incredibly honored to have one of the Tennessee Principals of the Year!
Dr. Luttrell says, "I am incredibly honored to represent TN East Grand Division, Tusculum View, and Greeneville City Schools, but I also know this recognition represents the work of an amazing group of people. Iโve always believed that leadership isnโt about having all the answers. Itโs about building the capacity of others, trusting people to bring their ideas to the table, and creating a place where people feel safe to speak, brave enough to try, and empowered to lead.
At our school, โAll Means ALLโ really is at the heart of what we do. We believe every child can learn and grow, and every child deserves to be prepared for the future of their choice. That means exposing our students to possibilities, equipping them with what they need to be successful, encouraging them to dream big and do hard things, and embracing them through both their successes and their struggles.
Iโm fortunate to work alongside educators, families, and community partners who share that belief and are willing to think outside the box to do what is best for kids. Iโm incredibly proud of what weโve accomplished together, and I think this recognition shows what is possible when we trust one another, hold high expectations, and keep kids at the center of every decision we make."
