Greene County Schools Family Resource Center

Greene County Schools Family Resource Center The Family Resource Center bridges the gap between home, school & community. We provide resources and support to help children succeed in school.

What is the Family Resource Center? Many of Tennessee's children come to school unprepared to learn. A child living with poverty, hunger, homelessness, abuse, neglect, loss, mental illness, substance abuse or family conflict is unlikely to succeed academically and socially in school. Schools are not equipped to address these issues. Additionally, the social service delivery system may be fragmente

d, confusing or inaccessible to those needing help. The Family Resource Center (FRC) program, administered by the TN Dept. of Education, was created in 1992 to help local education agencies to coordinate state and community services to better meet the needs of families with children. The FRC is located at Chuckey Elementary and provides outreach to all Greene County Schools. Funding is provided by the State of Tennessee Department of Education with a local match from the Greene County Board of Education and United Way of Greene County. One of our goals is to provide an active advisory council. Our advisory Council is comprised of parent, school and community representatives with parents making up at lease 50 percent. Our FRC services include: clothes, coat, toiletries and school supplies closets, food pantry, resource and referral to community organizations, and a variety of free parenting materials. We also coordinate the Food for Kids program for all Greene County elementary and middle schools and the Mobile Food Pantry in partnership with Second Harvest. It is imperative a students needs are met so they are ready to learn when they get to school. Our ultimate goal is to see the students of Greene County graduate and go on to become productive citizens. Please note that this page is for informational purposes only. 🎉 Big News! 🎉

You may notice a change on our page!

As part of our ongoing evolution, we are transitioning our public identity to Greene County Thrives.

For more than a year, you've seen us using as we worked to better reflect our focus on Prevention. Support. Connection. This next step simply aligns our name with the work we've been doing all along.

While our public-facing name is changing, our mission remains the same: helping individuals, families, and communities thrive through prevention, education, collaboration, and support.

You may still see references to the Greene County Anti-Drug Coalition during this transition, but rest assured—we're the same organization, with the same commitment to Greene County.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. We’re excited for what’s ahead!

💚 Greene County Thrives
Prevention. Support. Connection.
