This morning (Thursday, September 3rd) during arrival at Harris Elementary, a Greenfield-Central High School student wearing a ski mask rode a bicycle onto school property, behaved in a manner that caused concern, and attempted to enter the building.

A GCPD officer assigned to the school immediately contacted and identified the student before the student gained access to the building. The officer investigated the situation and confirmed that there were no weapons involved.

School administrators and the student’s parent were notified, and the student was released to the parent. The matter is being addressed through the appropriate school administrative and law enforcement processes.

We understand that incidents of this nature can create concern, particularly when incomplete or inaccurate information begins circulating online. There is no ongoing threat to Harris Elementary.

We ask our community to rely on information released by GCPD or Greenfield-Central Schools, rather than unverified social media posts.

INVESTIGATION UPDATE

Yesterday, the Greenfield-Central School Police Department received information alleging that a Greenfield-Central High School teacher had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Upon receiving that information, our department immediately initiated a criminal investigation. Investigators reviewed available digital evidence, interviewed the individuals involved, and followed all investigative leads.

During the investigation, the creator of the social media post admitted the image depicted in the post was created using artificial intelligence and did not depict an actual event. The individual further stated that no dating, romantic, or sexual relationship ever existed between herself and the teacher depicted in the post.

The investigation found no credible evidence that the alleged relationship ever occurred. As part of the investigation, the Greenfield-Central School Police Department evaluated all aspects of the incident, including whether any criminal offenses had occurred. Based upon the evidence and applicable Indiana law, no probable cause was established to support criminal charges. The department also coordinated with school administration to address the matter through appropriate non-criminal measures.

Accordingly, the criminal investigation has been closed with an official disposition of Unfounded.

The Greenfield-Central School Police Department takes every allegation involving the safety of our students seriously. We appreciate those who reported their concerns, allowing law enforcement to investigate the matter thoroughly and determine the facts.

**Community Update**

Earlier today, the Greenfield-Central School Police Department received information regarding allegations involving a Greenfield-Central High School staff member that have since been shared on social media and through other public outlets.

Upon receiving the information, our department immediately initiated an investigation. Investigators have been conducting interviews, collecting digital evidence, and reviewing all available information.

At this time, the investigation remains active. We recognize that additional allegations and speculation continue to circulate online. We ask our community to refrain from sharing unverified information and allow investigators the opportunity to complete a thorough and impartial investigation before drawing conclusions based on information circulating online.

The Greenfield-Central Police Department takes every report involving the safety and well-being of our students seriously. We are committed to following the facts and evidence wherever they lead and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of our investigation.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our students, staff, families, and community as we work to ensure this matter is investigated thoroughly and professionally.
