Ms. Kaylee’s room made Bear Soup today! Children rolled the die, counted the dots, then spooned that many bears into their bowls. A fun, hands-on way to practice counting, one-to-one correspondence, and a little fine motor control too!

After 6 years of playing volleyball, Demi says some of her favorite memories are the rivalry games — but what she’ll miss most is getting to see her best friends every day. 🥹

Did you know that the mission created by the Cougar Cubs Preschool Staff is to "welcome and embrace all preschool children and they are committed to developing the whole child"? Students receive instruction in whole-group, small-group, and individual settings. Instruction in the classroom is provided through teacher-led and child-led experiences. These experiences are designed with a focus on whole-child learning, to develop their skills in language, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, creative arts, social-emotional learning, and motor skills. Staff also utilize some preschool appropriate curricular pieces to weave into learning. See below for a little bit about play-based preschool learning where we highlight how purposeful play supports social-emotional growth, builds foundational academic skills, and creates joyful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for all children.

Lots of exciting things have been happening in the classrooms! During this last week at Cougar Cubs, the concepts included emotions, feelings, reviewing the number 2 and square through hands on approaches. Miss Stephanie, from the Hancock County Public Library, visited the East location for some stories and songs. Many rooms are beginning to introduce some life value terms, such as "Stick Together", "Gentle and Kind", "No Hurts" and "Have Fun" all the while teaching what these concepts mean when we are in school.

Mrs. Hale’s class did some outside painting on Friday! The children explored different STEAM concepts in 3 stations. They used pipettes to drop different sized drops of water color onto paper and watched as they dripped down. Which went faster, the big drops or the small drops? They put water colors in spray bottles and watched as the colors mixed and ran together. Last, they fashioned a cardboard ramp from cardboard and rolled plastic balls and toy cars through paint and down the ramp. One of the quotes from today “look I’m making fireworks!” -spray painting

They may all have pink feet but they had so much fun!
