Our discussion today was about Suicide awareness and prevention. September is Suicide Prevention Month. Many resources are available including the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. Someone can also call 2-1-1 as they provide a comprehensive source of social services and can connect someone to suicide and other resources.
With weather changing, back to school and other challenges; how to brighten each day and turn them into #opportunities was our topic.
Bringing the parade home
This week should be Burn Camp, a free overnight camp for burn injured youth 7-17 years old supported by the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, Inc.. This year they had to go virtual. Thursday is Visitors Day at camp with a huge Fire Engine parade so we brought the parade to two campers homes that live in our City. We then hand delivered an envelope with a few surprises, toured the engine and had a nice visit. Have a fun virtual camp and hoping for a return to camp in 2021.
Along with Greenfield WI Health Department, we talked about having a discussion when uncertainty looms. A timely conversation especially as we move closer to school.
Meal Planning on a Budget
Today's topic was meal planning on a budget.
You will note that our moderators have a different look this week as they are wearing masks. Greenfield Fire-Rescue recently implemented mask wearing by all members in station (we have been wearing them out of station and on calls for months). This is based on recommended guidance for Emergency Medical providers to ensure we limit spread and we can continue to answer calls. Stay safe and well, we're trying too.
Today's talk is on financial stressors and #community resources that are available to assist.
Today's topic was Opiod (Heroine) use and our #community response. An important topic as overdoses continue and interventions can be a matter of life or death. If you or someone needs help, private message us.
Talking about success. What does that look like? How is it defined?
A little introduction to the roles and responsibilities of our Case Manager. Greenfield Fire-Rescue is the only Fire/EMS department in the state to have such a position. Our Case Manager also takes referrals from Greenfield Police and Greenfield Health to make connections to resources.
Mental wellness check in.
