Before and after 👍👍

Earlier this year, Gus Construction Co. Inc. replaced an old bridge south of Stuart with a new triple 10'×12' concrete box culvert. The highway south of Stuart is one of our busiest roads with nearly 2000 vehicles using it everyday, and we expect that number to grow. This project was the first step in a larger road-widening project that is planned to happen within the next couple years along that stretch of highway.

Here's some of the numbers,
576 cubic yards of concrete
Nearly 90k pounds of reinforcing steel
833 tons of rip rap
Almost 1900 tons of sand backfill
Over 500 tons of asphalt pavement
Total closure days = 78

The total cost of this project was $966,765.22, paid for with TIF bond funds.

Antique Country Drive (highway going south of Casey to the Interstate) is closed to through traffic for a resurfacing project. There is a marked detour in place. The exit ramps at the Casey interchange are also closed during construction. This project is expected to last 3-4 weeks. Residents will have access to properties along the highway but they may need to drive around. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions/concerns 641-745-6111

10 weeks.

We had to close Kent Ave. in mid-April due to a catastrophic failure of a large metal pipe culvert. The decision was made to replace the pipe with a box culvert, so plans were drawn up, easements acquired, and the project was let on May 4th. Gus Construction Co. Inc. had the low bid and they were awarded the project. They mobilized to the site on May 18th and as of June 24th, the project is complete and the road is back open. 👍

The 6'x8' RCB also featured a drop inlet design that makes it eligible for Hungry Canyons funding that can offset the cost of projects that help reduce future soil loss/erosion.

Total cost of this project was $176,063.76 paid for with Local Option Sales Tax funds with an estimated $34,497.44 to be reimbursed by Hungry Canyons.

Govco inc. is under contract to build 3 new bridges for Adair County this year and they just recently finished up the first one.

The N11 Lincoln bridge near Stuart was previously restricted to 15 tons. The old timber bridge was replaced with a 30' steel beam bridge with a concrete deck.

Total cost for this project was $218,207.15, paid for with TIF bond proceeds.
