The Greenfield Park Board agrees with the decision of The Adair County Conservation Board to leave the campgrounds closed until May 15th. At that time our decision will be reevaluated. Although the Governor has proclaimed campgrounds MAY be opened tomorrow at 5 am, the Board has decided to postpone our opening. Thank you for your continued patience in these trying times as we are just as excited to start the 2020 camping season as you are!

Your response helps direct federal funds to our community we would otherwise lose. To reply online go to www.my2020census.gov - it only takes a few minutes. Thank you!

Help Us Help Small Businesses! We are seeking information from small business owners about the challenges they’re facing as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Specifically, we need to better understand the ability of businesses to withstand what may be a several months of suppressed revenue and what kinds of support programs will have the most impact. Please encourage your small businesses to respond to this survey: https://bit.ly/2Uqo0jq. This data will make us stronger advocates to Congress, to state legislators, and to our local elected officials in explaining the kind of resources needed by Main Street businesses to weather the storm.

We’re asking for responses by 5:00pm PT next Friday, April 3rd. It should take each small business owner about five minutes to go through the questions.

Bear Hunt - Greenfield, IA

What a great idea!

Greenfield friends:

Who wants to go on a “Bear Hunt”?

Let’s follow suit with other communities and entertain our kiddos during the Coronavirus. Place a Teddy Bear or favorite stuffed animal of your choice in the window of your home/business. Families will be able to “hunt” for your teddy on a walk and/or drive. I would love to see pictures!

Be Aware of the cuddly bear at 204 NE Elm St!

Have fun!

In response to recent guidance announced by the Centers for Disease Control and in our continued effort to keep residents and staff safe, at tonight’s meeting the council consensus was to close city playgrounds until further notice. The lakes and trails remain open, but playgrounds at those locations are also closed. Please use the lakes and trails responsibly - practice social distancing and no groups larger than ten. As always, if you’re sick - stay home. We hope to be able to reopen the playgrounds soon. Thank you.

Please, DO NOT flush anything but human wastes and toilet paper!! So called “flushable” wipes should not be flushed, because they WILL cause this. And, this will cause backups, which I’ve just heard has happened at a local business. While we understand this is a stressful time, if you must use wipes, please throw them in the trash.

With the potential health concerns, we ask that anyone feeling sick to please not come to the office. It is very important that our employees remain healthy for business continuity if a more serious virus outbreak occurs. In order to reduce potential contact, we encourage customers to use the drop box if possible. If it is necessary to enter the lobby, please use the hand sanitizer located inside the doors. As always, we encourage our community to stay home if sick and do plenty of hand washing. We hope this issue ends quickly and without incident but it's important to be prepared for the worst-case scenario. GMU will continue to monitor the situation and update our customers as things progress.

This male dog was picked up on February 7th near the 300 block of SE Kent. We thought the owner picked him up but it was not the right dog. He has a green collar with no tags. Very friendly and knows some commands. Also potty trained. Contact Greenfield Vet Clinic on SE 6th for more info on claiming or adopting this dog. He will be shipped off to a NO kill shelter soon.
