This past Monday, Ms. Lagorio's class visited BTG Legacy Ranch in New Vienna. They enjoyed an afternoon riding horses, taking a hay ride, and walking in a corn maze. Our hosts, Ben and Calyx, provided hot dogs, chips, and delicious hot c***r for us. Everyone enjoyed learning about horses, practicing how to lasso, playing with Grub, and snuggling with all of the kittens. Students learned about different jobs related to agriculture and animals, as well. We had a fantastic day!

Sometimes, doing the right thing isn’t easy, but Colton didn’t let that stop him. He embraced a challenge, trusted his judgment, and chose to do what he knew was right.

Ms. Lagorio's class visited Karnes Orchard on Wednesday. They learned about apple trees and how to take care of them as well as learning the correct way to pick an apple. Students then got to pick their own apple. Each student also interviewed an employee at Karnes Orchard to learn about their job and to see if they might be interested in that job field. A picnic lunch was enjoyed as well. Next week, students will be cooking a variety of foods with apples as the main ingredients, using apples from our local orchard.

Students in Ms. Reed’s and Mrs. Stockdale’s ELA classes participated in a Writers Workshop as they worked on their multi-paragraph argumentative essays. Their topic was, “Are teens too old to trick-or-treat?” 🎃 Students learned how to state a clear claim and choose a side, use evidence from the passages to support their claim, and explain how their evidence supports their reasons. They also worked on organizing their writing into clear paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. It was the perfect day for writing in ELA! ✏️📚🎃
