Buck Creek Township Fire Department is seeking paramedic applicants to fulfill an immediate full-time firefighter/paramedic vacancy and create a list for future hiring needs. This fast-paced process will last less than ONE week, closing Sunday, June 14th at 5pm. Interviews will follow in quick succession. Firefighter I/II certifications are NOT required at time of hire! Last night after the Buck Creek Township Advisory Board Meeting Board Members, Trustee Micki Simunek and State Representative Ethan Lawson were able to look at the new ladder.
Years of finanacial planning, capital improvements and local needs assessment have led to this purchase.

After more than two years of planning, yesterday we were excited to accept delivery of the new Ladder 471 from Hoosier Fire Equipment, Inc.. This beautiful rear-mount Spartan/Smeal aerial platform measures just shy of 50 feet long and nearly 13 feet tall!

While the truck has been delivered, it is not yet ready for emergency responses. Over the course of the next several weeks, our crews will undergo extensive training to ensure competency and comfort with this new piece of apparatus. Once ready, it will be outfitted with firefighting equipment and rescue tools.

Stay tuned for more updates on this apparatus and an official push in ceremony in the coming weeks.

This afternoon, our Ladder 471 crew had the opportunity to team up with Greenfield Fire Territory to display a garrison flag over I-70 at the State Road 9 interchange. Let us not forget the true meaning of Memorial Day, to remember those we have lost!

Our Engine 471 and Tanker 471 crews have been assisting with this incident since prior to 10 o’clock this morning. This has not affected emergency responses in Buck Creek Township.

At 3:55 a.m. last night, E472, M472, and BC407 were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of W 200 N and N 600 W.

Upon arrival, BCTFD crews located a vehicle inverted inside the roundabout. Fortunately, the occupant was able to exit the vehicle independently and sustained only minimal injuries.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the Hancock County Sheriff's Department for their assistance on the scene.

Did you know? Buck Creek Township is home to the largest Walmart online fulfillment center in the country. The facility boasts a 2.2 million square foot footprint with nearly 3.5 million square feet of walkable space with an extensive automated racking system inside.

This week, along with our mutual aid partners from Hancock and Marion counties, crews spent time reacquainting and becoming familiar with this massive structure. Walmart staff provided a comprehensive tour of the warehouse, highlighting various complexities and operational considerations for emergency responses.
