The theme for this year's Summer Reading Program at Dade County Library was "Unearth a Story." Our program was divided into two age groups: preschool (ages 2–6) and middle school (ages 7–14). Our preschoolers enjoyed three Tuesdays of reading Dinosaur books, making magic dino eggs, painting dinosaur suncatchers and breaking fossils filled with gemstone chips and plastic dinosaur skeletons! Our Middle School group had three Friday presenters plus crafts! Our day one presenter was local genealogist Brenda Isenbletter. The kids learned about some of the local history of Dade County, followed by making fuse bead dinosaur keychains. On day two, we enjoyed painting a dinosaur scene with local artist Angie Myers. Our last presenter was CAR Research Specialist Sarah Reid from the Missouri State University Archeology Department, afterwards the kids got to break open fossils. We finished our Summer Reading Activities with Family Day at the Greenfield City Pool!
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped make our program a success: T&B Graphics for our awesome T-shirts,That Place, Red's, Casey's General Store, Hot Spot and the Greenfield City Pool.
Happy Reading Friends!
