IMPORTANT UPDATES to GMU's payment options - as of January 1, 2021 we will return to using the toll free payment call center referenced in the image below. The call center was unavailable for a time this year due to COVID-19 but is fully functional again so we will be transitioning back to using their service.

ALSO, there is no longer an indoor payment drop box. If you don't need a receipt for your payment, please continue to use the outside drop box. Keeping our office staff healthy is of utmost importance in keeping our office open for business.

Thank you, GMU

Due to the dry fall weather and low lake levels, GMU is deferring a complete flushing of our water distribution system that was scheduled for this week. We are, however; planning to flush some known low flow areas and some of the dead end lines in town. If you notice some discoloration or mild odor issues in your water, please try letting your water run for a few minutes. If after a few minutes it doesn’t clear up, please contact GMU (641-743-2741) and we will send someone to check it out. Thank You, GMU Management & Staff.

Just a reminder as we have had a lot of questions today regarding posting notices - payments must be received prior to 7:30 AM in order to be considered on time. This has been the GMU policy for several years.

GovPayNet - The Simple Way To Pay

GMU has been notified by customers that payments being made online are not being processed timely. What I have found in looking into these situations is that customers are doing an interent search for the link to pay their bill and getting redirected to a third party app called DOXO. This app takes your account information and mails GMU a check which is taking 10-14 days to receive. When paying bills online, please always go through www.gmu-ia.com and click Pay Your Bill in the upper right corner (you will need to turn a mobile device horizontal to see the Pay Your Bill link) or bookmark the payment link of https://www.govpaynow.com/gps/user/cyg/plc/a0020y to avoid payment delays which result in penalties being applied.

In the next few days residents will be receiving a brief citizen survey along with a summary of changes to the updated Code of Ordinances. Your responses will assist the council in planning and spending priorities. Please return your surveys to City Hall by October 9, 2020. They can be dropped off in the drop box just north of the front door, or mailed to PO Box 95, Greenfield, IA. 50849. Thank you for your help in determining the future direction for our community.

GMU, Greenfield City Hall & Greenfield Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

09/01/2020

Please remember that payments received in the office or in the outside depository after 7:30 AM will be posted on the next business day.

This has always been part of the Greenfield Municipal Utilities service rules and has been strictly enforced since August 2017 when there were several occurrences of disagreements as to what time a payment was put in the drop box in a short period of time. We're happy to help work out payment arrangements with our customers but unfortunately have to have a hard cut off time for postings and penalties to ensure fairness to all customers.

What does this mean for our customers? The outside depository will be emptied at 7:30 AM every morning that the office is open. On days in which a penalty is to be applied, only those payments that are in the depository by 7:30 AM will be considered timely and all others will be penalized.

If you have any questions, please call our office at 641-743-2741.

As everyone is aware, Black Start Testing did not go as planned overnight. GMU battled several obstacles which caused extended outages but overall testing was successful as it identified the processes that need to be updated or improved in order to be ready for a real time emergency situation. We want to thank all of our customers for their patience and graciousness as we worked through the testing.
