Wildlife is welcomed here. Especially Barn Owls. A family of owls can consume over 3000 rodents per year! And we certainly need the help with gophers! A big thank you to for building us this beautiful barn owl nest box.

Honey Harvest 2025. It’s a family affair! So thankful we had the extra help as extracting is a sticky mess. And thankful for the summer weather on a November weekend. Temperature makes a big difference when removing honey from the frames. Can’t wait to finalize a label for these and share with our family and friends. 🍯🐝

Moments like this when we remember to stop and be more intentional about practicing gratitude. It’s so easy to get caught up in negativity/sadness/pain. And while those feelings can be valid, taking a moment to remind yourself all that you are blessed with, quickly shifts your brain and heart to a better place. Gracias amanecer por el recordatorio.

Meet our squash bee. I was so excited to see this little bee in our pumpkin patch. They are native solitary bees that are part of the long-horned bee family and they love squash blooms! Their daily activities are fully tied to the squash’s flower cycle. Love that we are providing habitat and food source for these important native bees.

🐝✨ Today was one for the memory books. We got the kids their very first beekeeping suits, and they were so proud to put them on and help mamá. There’s something incredibly special about sharing this little world of bees with them—teaching them about patience, respect for nature, and the magic of working in harmony with them. They each squealed with joy when a bee landed on them and said that it’s their most favorite thing to do. Feeling grateful 💛

No where else we’d rather be. Feeling thankful for this garden that feeds and nourishes us, provides beauty, and calm. We are even thankful that it has become habitat for all kinds of wildlife, even the quail that snack on our sugar snap peas.

Slice of honeycomb anyone? 🍕🍕we realized yesterday that the bees built comb in their feeders (which we use in the fall/winter with weaker hives, and yes, I should have removed it months ago). When we carefully removed the comb, they came out looking just like that. Two perfect slices to be quickly consumed 😋 the sweetest afternoon snack!
