REMINDER: DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITORS
The Greenhills Police Department reminds residents to use caution when dealing with unexpected door-to-door salespeople.

Recently, in the "J" Section, a resident reported a man claiming to be a Spectrum employee who knew detailed information about the resident's internet account. The individual appeared legitimate, wearing a Spectrum shirt and identification badge, and was invited into the home. During the visit, he was given access to a cell phone, asked for the Wi-Fi password, and offered a deal that seemed too good to be true.

Afterward, the resident contacted Spectrum and learned the deal being offered did not exist.

Remember: Door-to-door salespeople and solicitors are required to register with the Village of Greenhills. One of the first questions you should ask is, "Are you registered with the Village?"

Never be afraid to close the door and independently verify someone's identity with the company they claim to represent. Don't provide passwords, financial information, or access to your phone.
A uniform, identification badge, or knowledge of your personal information does not necessarily mean someone is legitimate.
And always remember: If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

UPDATE: Aggressive Dog Incident

This evening, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Greenhills Police officers were dispatched to Beckford Drive regarding the same large aggressive dog that had been reported earlier in the day.

The officer responded to the animal complaint. Shortly after arriving, the dog charged at the officer. Fearing for his safety, the officer discharged his firearm one time, striking the dog.

The dog fled from the scene to a residence on Bayham Drive, where it continued to display aggressive behavior toward a homeowner. The dog then ran into an enclosed porch of a nearby residence.

Two Hamilton County Dog Wardens responded and located the dog. As they attempted to safely take the dog into custody, it continued to act aggressively toward them. Both Dog Wardens deployed their Tasers in an attempt to control the dog. The dog ultimately succumbed to the gunshot injury it had sustained earlier.

No officers, residents, or Dog Wardens were injured during the incident.

The dog's owner is still unknown. If anyone has information regarding the dog's owner, please contact the Greenhills Police Department.

Cooking with the Cops – Thank You!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Cooking with the Cops last evening! It was another wonderful evening filled with great food, great conversations, and an opportunity to spend time together as a community.

Events like these are about more than just sharing a meal—they're about building relationships, strengthening trust, and getting to know one another outside of emergency situations. We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to stop by, visit with our officers, and help make the event such a success.

Earlier in the evening, many residents also gathered for the flag-raising ceremony at the new Veterans Memorial. Thank you to everyone who attended this meaningful event as we honored the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans. The tremendous community support shown throughout the evening—from the ceremony to Cooking with the Cops—was truly appreciated.

We also want to recognize the generous donors to the Greenhills Police Community Fund. Because of your support, events like Cooking with the Cops, Cookies with the Cops, Gametime with GPD, Building Bridges, and many other community programs can take place without using Village tax dollars.

Thank you again for another fantastic evening. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next community event!

DOG AT LARGE — USE CAUTION

The Greenhills Police Department and Park Rangers attempted to capture the pictured dog that was running loose in the “B” section near Beckford Drive. The dog displayed aggressive behavior toward residents and responding officers.

The dog was last seen running into the Park District toward Springdale Road. Nearby residents reported that they had not seen the dog before and do not know who owns it.

Anyone who sees the dog or has information regarding its owner should contact the Greenhills Police Department at 513-825-2101.

Dog Attack Incident on Ireland:
At approximately 3:10 p.m. today, July 23rd, 2026, Greenhills Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Ireland regarding a reported dog attack involving two pit bulls and a smaller dog.

According to the investigation, a resident was walking her dog when the dog was attacked by two pit bulls. After witnessing the attack, a nearby resident attempted to assist the injured dog. During that effort, one of the pit bulls turned and attacked the individual, biting him on the left hand.

Fearing for his safety, the resident discharged a firearm, firing three rounds and striking the attacking dog, which died at the scene. The second pit bull fled but was later located when it returned to its residence.

The individual who was bitten sought medical treatment for his injury.

The Hamilton County Dog Warden responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. The owner of the dogs was cited for a fourth-degree misdemeanor. The surviving dog was removed from the residence pending a hearing to determine whether it should be designated as a dangerous dog under Ohio law.

The smaller dog that was attacked sustained severe injuries and was later humanely euthanized by a veterinarian.

Additional proceedings regarding the surviving dog, including its potential designation as a dangerous dog, will be handled through the Hamilton County Dog Warden and the appropriate legal process.
