Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund Awards $15,000 Grant to Stratham Fire Department for Life Saving Ventilator Equipment
Greenland, NH – The Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Stratham Fire Department to purchase a second advanced mechanical ventilator for its ambulance service.
The ventilators represent a significant advancement in emergency medical care for Stratham and surrounding communities. This equipment will ensure both of Stratham’s frontline ambulances are equipped with hospital-grade respiratory support capabilities, enabling paramedics to provide critical care to patients experiencing respiratory emergencies from the moment they arrive on scene.
"This investment directly benefits our community by bringing hospital-grade respiratory support to patients in their moment of greatest need," said Hearshell VanLuven, the department's Paramedic Coordinator and grant applicant. "Having uniform equipment across both ambulances ensures every patient receives the same exceptional level of care, regardless of which unit responds."
"Chief Maloney believed deeply in giving back, enriching his community, and inspiring the next generation to do the same," said Tim Maloney, Vice President of the Chief Michael Maloney Memorial Fund. "The Stratham Fire Department's commitment to advanced life support readiness and forward-thinking leadership demonstrates exactly the kind of dedication to service that Chief Maloney championed throughout his career. We're honored to support this critical enhancement to their capabilities."
The Stratham Fire Department plays a vital role not only in serving its own community but also in providing mutual aid support to neighboring departments during high-acuity emergencies. The addition of the second ventilator strengthens the regional emergency response network and expands the department's capacity to assist surrounding communities.
The equipment is expected to be deployed prior to the start of 2027.
