ROAD CLOSURE ALERT:
Mt Merino Road is closed in the area of 120 -122 Mt Merino Road. Addresses 120 and higher must access from Route 23 and addresses 120 and lower we are waiting for the Town Engineer to assess the situation to ensure the road is stable. We will post updates as we get them. If you have friends or family who live or travel through that area, please let them know.

STATE OF EMERGENCY & TRAVEL ADVISORY – COLUMBIA COUNTY

Due to widespread flooding and the potential for additional heavy rainfall, Columbia County has declared a State of Emergency and issued a countywide Travel Advisory, effective 10:00 AM today through 7:00 AM tomorrow, unless extended or rescinded.

Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. If you must travel, use extreme caution, never drive through flooded roadways, and check for road closures before leaving.

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Columbia County in east central New York...
Northeastern Greene County in east central New York...
Southwestern Rensselaer County in east central New York...

* Until 130 PM EDT Wednesday.

* At 724 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the
warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Troy, East Greenbush, Rensselaer, Hudson, Chatham, Nassau, Claverack, New Baltimore, Coxsackie, Valatie, Athens, Castleton-On-Hudson, Philmont, Kinderhook, Lorenz Park, Claverack-Red Mills, West Sand Lake, Averill Park, Wynantskill and Wyantskill.

INSTRUCTIONS: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

In memory of Johnny “Love” Riscavage 💚

Johnny was a teammate, a friend, and a 30-year veteran of our organization, and a legend in our profession—someone who dedicated his life to helping others and left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed an incredible outpouring of support from our peers and our community—something that truly reflects the life Johnny lived and the impact he had on so many.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who visited, donated, purchased shirts, shared stories, and kept Johnny and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Your kindness and compassion have meant more than words can express.

Johnny dedicated his life to helping others. The love and support shown in return is a powerful reflection of the legacy he leaves behind.
