In memory of Johnny “Love” Riscavage 💚

Johnny was a teammate, a friend, and a 30-year veteran of our organization, and a legend in our profession—someone who dedicated his life to helping others and left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Over the past few weeks, we have witnessed an incredible outpouring of support from our peers and our community—something that truly reflects the life Johnny lived and the impact he had on so many.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who visited, donated, purchased shirts, shared stories, and kept Johnny and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Your kindness and compassion have meant more than words can express.

Johnny dedicated his life to helping others. The love and support shown in return is a powerful reflection of the legacy he leaves behind.

Thank you for standing with us, and for honoring Johnny in such a meaningful way. 💚

***Update on Harry Howard Avenue Closure***
Due to the large crack on Harry Howard Avenue as it crosses Underhill, the current road closure from Paddock Place to Washington Street remains in effect until further notice. We appreciate your patience and ask that everyone heed the barriers and find alternate routes.

Harry Howard Ave from Paddock Pl to Washington St is closed to ALL traffic until further notice due to unsafe roadway in the area of underhill. Please follow ALL road signs.

🚨 COLUMBIA COUNTY TRAVEL BAN IN EFFECT 🚨

Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell has issued a State of Emergency Declaration due to the major winter storm that is expected to bring up to 24 inches of snow, creating extremely dangerous travel conditions and impacting emergency response.

🛑 COUNTYWIDE TRAVEL BAN
📅 12 PM SUN 1/25/26 – 11 AM MON 1/26/26

What this means for residents:
• ❌ All non-essential vehicular travel is prohibited on public roadways in Columbia County
• 🚑 Only essential emergency vehicles and essential personnel are permitted to travel
• 🚜 This restriction allows plow crews and emergency responders to operate safely and efficiently

Residents are strongly urged to stay off the roads during this time. Unnecessary travel puts yourself, plow operators, and first responders at risk.

This travel ban applies countywide and will remain in effect unless extended or rescinded.

Due to the approaching snowstorm tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd, this is a reminder that parking is prohibited on all town roads. Vehicles interfering with snow removal operations will be ticketed and/or towed.

Please be courteous to our Greenport DPW while they plow and keep our town roads clear and safe.
