A BIG upgrade for a cleaner Greensboro!

The City of Greensboro has officially received its new boom truck!

With our previous truck out of commission, debris and limb piles had begun accumulating faster than our crews could remove them. This new equipment gives our team the capability to get caught up and get Greensboro looking clean again.

You’ll soon see this truck making its way through neighborhoods and tackling those piles one by one. It won’t all disappear overnight but we now have the equipment to get the job done.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making this possible and to our crews who will be putting it to work!

Truth is...Labor Day wasn't always about backyard barbecues. It started from folks working 12-hour days and organizing strikes for fair pay.

On September 7, 2026, City Hall will be closed to observe the federal holiday. Let’s remember the struggles that make this holiday matter and keep the community informed about to closure. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Truth is...Greensboro showed its spirit all month long! 💚❤️💙

Throughout August, City of Greensboro employees joined in Mayor Howard’s City of Greensboro Spirit Month, bringing a little extra fun and pride to the workplace each Friday.

From Greensboro Pride Day and Western Day to Community Unity Day and today’s Hometown Spirit Day, our team showed up and represented the city, the organizations we love, and our hometown schools.

Here’s a look back at some of the faces and moments that made Spirit Month special. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the month a fun one across City departments.

Come hear what’s happening in your city, stay connected to the decisions being made and see local government at work!

And bring somebody with you... a neighbor, friend, family member. Community works better when more of us are part of the conversation.

Help us support the sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. 🇺🇸

The City of Greensboro is collecting unopened soap, shampoo, and toothpaste to include in care packages for sailors serving aboard the ship.

Donations may be dropped off at Greensboro City Hall during regular business hours.

Thank you to everyone who helps us send a little care from Greensboro to those serving away from home.

At the end of the day, it's all about seeing our kids dive into books and let their imaginations run wild.

The summer reading program at Hale County Library, "Read America 250," came to a close and it was a joy to see so many young readers participate.

Big congrats to our top four readers and to everyone who received a cash prize and certificate! You did something special, keep up the good work!

Lorrie Cook has officially hung up her City Clerk hat after 29 amazing years of service here for the City of Greensboro. We gathered friends, family, and coworkers to celebrate her incredible journey full of hard work and dedication. Laughter and memories filled the room as we thanked Lorrie for all she's done.

Here's to new adventures, Lorrie! You deserve every bit of happiness in retirement!
