The Greensboro Police Department confirms that Colby Raybon Peebles, wanted in connection with First-Degree R**e and First-Degree Assault charges, has been taken into custody.

Physical Description of Suspect:
- 33-year-old white male
- 5 feet 9 inches
- 135lbs
- Bald
- Blue Eyes.

He may be in a 2016 Black Dodge Ram with the plate 3C010XX.
Last known connections in Montgomery, Alabama.

If seen, contact Captain D. Travis or Investigator Ravyn Robertson at 334-624-3902 or your local authorities immediately.

Event success! A big thank you to the Tombigbee RC&D Council for the backpack giveaway at the Greensboro Recreational Center. It was uplifting to see so many families and teachers gearing up for the school year.

On June 20, 2026 Parts of Main Street, Centerville Street, Tuscaloosa Street, Beacon Street and Market Street, will be closed from 8AM till 8PM for a Juneteenth Community Day event.

City Hall might be closed for the holiday....

But the Hale County Jail? They are open and ready to assist!

They will still answer the phone.
They will still unlock the door.
And still book inmates.

Authorities in neighboring Perry County report that two escaped inmates remain at large.

There is no known threat to Greensboro at this time.

Anyone with information should contact law enforcement immediately.

Please do not approach suspicious individuals.

A multi-agency manhunt continues after four inmates escaped from the Perry County Correctional PREP Center early Saturday morning, though authorities say two of the escapees are now back in custody.

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the inmates escaped from the facility in Uniontown around 1 a.m. Saturday. The escapees were identified as Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., Kevin Gunn, and Marquavious Billingsley.
