At last night’s June 4 meeting, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners honored the life and legacy of Jordan Alexandria Pearson, a proud daughter of Greensboro whose compassion, leadership, creativity, and love for community touched so many. Presented by District 7 Commissioner Frankie T. Jones, Jr., the resolution recognized Jordan’s impact as a young entrepreneur, community leader, and rising professional in the motorcoach industry, as well as her service with synerG and the Greensboro Jaycees. Though her life ended far too soon, Jordan’s spirit, kindness, and commitment to making Greensboro stronger will continue to be remembered with gratitude.

The Board also proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month in Guilford County. Presented by District 6 Commissioner Brandon Gray-Hill, the proclamation affirmed the county’s commitment to equality, inclusion, and freedom from discrimination for all residents. Guilford County is proud to recognize the contributions of people of all backgrounds and encourages residents to continue building a community rooted in respect, understanding, dialogue, and equal rights for all.

The Board also recognized the Grimsley High School Men’s Tennis Team for winning the 2026 7A North Carolina High School Athletic Association Men’s Dual Team State Championship. Presented by District 4 Commissioner Mary Beth Murphy, the resolution celebrated an outstanding 19-1 season, a conference championship, the team’s highest statewide RPI ranking, and Grimsley’s first team state title since 1996. Congratulations to Head Coach James Krege, Assistant Coach Kent Lovett, the student-athletes, families, and supporters on a historic season that brought tremendous pride to Grimsley High School, Guilford County Schools, and our entire community.

This year, we’re celebrating five years of the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center and the impact it continues to make in our community. 💚

Yesterday evening, county leadership, staff, providers, and partners gathered to celebrate the history, growth, and success of the center over the past five years. Since opening in 2021, the center has had more than 28,700 visits to the Behavioral Health Urgent Care, more than 6,900 patient days at Facility-Based Crisis, and more than 39,600 outpatient clinic visits.

The Guilford County Behavioral Health Center provides timely access to mental health services for adults, children, and adolescents experiencing a mental health crisis, while also offering a peer support living room where residents can connect with certified peer support specialists with lived experience.

Commissioner At-Large Kay Cashion, Mental Health Director Debra Mack, Cone Health EVP & COO Shannon Scaturro, and NCDHHS Assistant Secretary Kelly Crosbie shared remarks recognizing the center’s achievements and the strong partnerships that continue to support its mission. Speakers also highlighted how the Guilford County Behavioral Health Center has become a model for counties across North Carolina.
