On May 28th, 2026, I proudly celebrated 19 years of service as a State of North Carolina employee. Throughout my career, I have been privileged to serve the citizens of North Carolina (Guilford County) in two significant capacities.

I dedicated 13 years and 7 months as an Assistant District Attorney, where I worked diligently to uphold the law and pursue justice on behalf of our communities. For the past 5 years and 5 months, I have had the honor of serving as a Judge, continuing my commitment to fairness, integrity, and public service.

Reaching this milestone is both humbling and rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and professional relationships that have shaped my career. Most importantly, I remain thankful for the trust placed in me to serve the people of North Carolina.

I look forward to continuing to serve with dedication, integrity and fairness..

🇺🇸 Honoring the Brave This Memorial Day 🇺🇸
Today, we pause as a nation to remember, honor, and express our deepest gratitude for the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. May we live in a way that honors their memory, protects the values they fought for, and remains forever grateful for their service.

Have a safe, reflective, and blessed Memorial Day.

Today’s horrific shooting outside the Wake County Courthouse, which left two attorneys injured, is a heartbreaking reminder of the profound risks that define the practice of law.

As officers of the court, attorneys and judges commit their lives to upholding the rule of law and resolving intense, often deeply volatile disputes. While we continuously strive to ensure that justice is administered peacefully and fairly, we cannot overlook the reality that our daily work places us directly in the path of heightened emotions and, unpredictably, targeted violence.

Our thoughts and deepest prayers are with Mary Harris, Jeffrey Whitley, their families and their colleagues at Fox Rothschild as they navigate this crisis. We also owe a profound debt of gratitude to the swift action of first responders and law enforcement who prevented further tragedy.

This incident shakes our entire North Carolina legal community, but it also reinforces our shared resolve. We must remain steadfast in prioritizing the security of our workplaces, and honoring the courage it takes to step into a courtroom every day.

🏛️ If you ever need to appear in court—whether for a minor traffic citation or a more serious matter—your behavior and attitude can be just as important as the legal facts of your case.

The objective should be to address the matter appropriately, resolve the issue, and move forward.

You never want a minor situation to escalate into something far more serious simply because of poor conduct or disrespect. It is essential to remain polite and respectful to everyone involved, including the clerks, bailiffs, prosecutor, and especially the judge. Each person is a professional performing an important role within the legal system.

Also, if a defense attorney steps forward to assist you or offer guidance as a friend of the court, that is a significant gesture that should be met with appreciation and respect.

A calm, courteous, and respectful attitude can make a meaningful difference in how your case proceeds—and in some situations, it may even help keep you out of jail.
