Are you a New American who wants to understand how U.S. elections work and the basics of our electoral system? This session is free, welcoming, and open to all questions, including the ones that can feel hard to ask.

Participants will leave able to:

🌟Register to vote or check their registration status
🌟Make a concrete plan to vote on or before November 3, 2026
🌟Know where to go for help before and on Election Day

Could you meet with someone each week to practice English? Share experience from your career? Help pack food for a distribution?

Our volunteer needs have shifted from helping families when they first arrive to supporting refugee and immigrant neighbors as they build their lives in Greensboro.

In this clip, Katie, our Volunteer Coordination Officer, shares ways to get involved:
💬 Become an English conversation partner—no teaching experience needed, just a commitment to meeting consistently.
🤝 Mentor someone pursuing education or career advancement.
🚗 Help with occasional rides to appointments or job interviews.
🥫 Donate, pack, or distribute culturally preferred foods through our work with A Simple Gesture and Out of the Garden Project.
📋 Help with office tasks.

We’re celebrating some big achievements from this past spring and summer! Each number represents real people working through barriers toward a more secure future. At a time when clients are facing losses to benefits, taking steps towards stability is essential.

Along with these employment stats, we’re also celebrating milestones like 3 members of one family all earning their driver’s licenses and two other families purchasing their first homes in Greensboro!

A job, a driver’s license, or a new home may look like separate milestones, but together they help families build the stability and independence they have been working toward.

What surprises people most about volunteering with CWS Greensboro?

Many begin with a sincere desire to help and welcome refugee and immigrant neighbors. Then relationships form. Hospitality and generosity move in both directions. Volunteers often tell us that their own lives have been changed, too.
