The Stokesdale boil water advisory has been lifted

BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED

Effective: Saturday, August 01, 2026, at 10:00 AM

The Town of Stokesdale is pleased to announce that the Water System Pressure Advisory and Boil Water Advisory issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, have been lifted.

Following the significant break involving a critical 24-inch regional water main supplying the City of Winston-Salem and neighboring communities, water system pressures have been fully restored. The Town has also received satisfactory bacteriological test results, confirming that the water is safe for human consumption.

Customers served by the Town of Stokesdale's municipal water system may now resume normal use of tap water for all purposes, including:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Food preparation

Boiling water is no longer necessary.

We sincerely appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our water customers throughout this event. We also want to thank the City of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities and our local, regional, and state partners for their assistance in responding to this incident and restoring normal operations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to ensure the continued safety and reliability of our community's drinking water.

A parked car can become dangerously hot in just minutes, even with the windows cracked! Please remember to never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle for any amount of time. As summer temperatures rise, so does the danger inside parked vehicles.

Help keep our community safe by remembering to:
✔️ Check the back seat before locking your car.
✔️ Leave an essential item, like a purse, wallet, or shoes, in the back seat as a reminder.
✔️ Keep a reminder, like a toy or diaper bag, in the front seat.
✔️ Call 9-1-1 if you see a child or pet left unattended in a vehicle.

The Greensboro Police Department is currently searching for a missing person. Retha Hill, a 77 year old African American female with grey hair, approximately 5'9 and 200 pounds. Last seen wearing dark brown sweater with white stripes, black pants and pink slippers, missing from the area of 1100 Bellevue Street. Please call 911 if you have any information.

ACTIVE BURN BAN: GUILFORD COUNTY
Due to a regional Code Orange air quality alert, a complete Burn Ban is effective Friday 6/5/26 – Saturday 6/6/26 for all of Guilford County.
NO outside burning is permitted.
Per county ordinance, this ban will remain in effect until Saturday at midnight. The burn ban may be extended.
