Why I'm Stepping Up
My drive to make a difference for our public schools runs deep. Bryan and I are completely invested in this community and want to see smart, strategic decisions made on behalf of all children in our county. Urgent Need for Positive Change
I've decided to run because I'm genuinely concerned about the current path of our school system. The challenges facing the Lake Oconee Acad
emy Charter renewal pose a real threat to its future and demand immediate attention. The collaboration between Greene County students and LOA students is an untapped opportunity that can benefit us all; and clear and open communication between the Board of Education and our community has been neglected for far too long. My commitment is to bridge these gaps and succeed on all fronts. A Call for Accountability
Our district needs common sense solutions, not personal agendas. Transparency, not stone walls. The voices of dedicated parents have been disregarded by our current Board of Education, and it's time to bring those voices back to the forefront of decision-making. All of our children succeed, and all of our schools thrive, when parents are engaged and heard. Why This Matters to You
Regardless of whether you have kids in school or not, the quality of our public education system shapes our community and resonates far beyond the walls of the classroom. Strong schools influence property values and guide the kind of growth we all want for where we live. The decisions made by the Board of Education impact everyone in our county, every day. Your voice matters! Why Me
First and foremost, I am a mother to three children educated in Greene County so I am invested as a parent. In addition, my entire career is grounded in creating positive change. I have spent the last twenty years bridging the gap between nonprofits and business and currently lead Global Community Engagement efforts for a Fortune 500 company. I have invested hundreds of millions of philanthropic dollars in education, health, and workforce development partnerships around the world. My degrees are in Communication and Spanish, with an advanced degree in Public Policy and Nonprofit Management as well as a certification to teach English as a Second Language. I don't just speak the language of change; I've lived and breathed it throughout my career and educational path. I currently sit on the Boston Scientific Foundation Board of Directors and am an Advisor to the Spencer Bradley Foundation for Mental Health. I am a member of 100 Women Who Care Lake Country and am a previous member of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Board of Advisors. I am also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer with a focus on education reform in Eastern Europe. My background in community investment, educational partnerships, public policy and commitment to local community causes shows that I have what it takes to represent our district, contribute to the development of our children and the strategic growth of our county. Let's Build a Brighter Future
Iโm excited for this journey and appreciate your friendship and support as I navigate this wonderful opportunity and challenge! Please reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to speaking with you soon. Maggie
