REGISTRATION IS OPEN for the NCGS annual two day conference at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC or streamed online everywhere. https://ncgenealogy.org/fall2025

Our featured speaker is J. Mark Lowe, FUGA, long-time professional genealogist, author, and lecturer who specializes in original records and manuscripts throughout the South. IT'S AWARDS NOMINATION TIME!

The North Carolina Genealogical Society is now accepting nominations for the 2025 annual awards for outstanding contributions to the NC genealogical community. The deadline to submit nominations is August 31, 2025.

No new award categories have been added, but there are a few changes to names and judging criteria. The categories are:

** ONLINE RESOURCES **
--The Award for Excellence in an Online Resource – Website
--The Award for Excellence in an Online Resource – Blog
--The Award for Excellence in an Online Resource – Social Media Page or Group
--The Award for Excellence in an Online Resource – Video Channel

** PUBLICATIONS **
--The Award for Excellence in Periodical Publishing by an NC Society – Journal
--The Award for Excellence in Periodical Publishing by an NC Society – Newsletter
--The Award for Excellence in Publishing – Abstracts or Transcriptions
--The Award for Excellence in Publishing – North Carolina Genealogy
--The Award for Excellence in Publishing – Family History
--The Award for Excellence for an Article in the NCGS Journal or its Supplements

** INDIVIDUALS **
--The Award for Outstanding Contribution to NCGS
--The Helen F. M. Leary Award for Outstanding Contribution to North Carolina Genealogy

Winners will be invited to attend the NCGS 2025 Fall Conference https://ncgenealogy.org/fall2025 as our guest to receive their award and be recognized by their genealogical peers – we’ll make sure everyone knows! Don’t be shy – you can even nominate your own works!
