Guilford County Partnership for Children

Guilford County Partnership for Children Our vision is for each child to enter school safe, healthy, and ready to succeed.

At the Guilford County Partnership for Children (GCPC), we work to ensure that every child in Guilford County enters school safe, healthy, and ready to succeed. As a local nonprofit, we strategically invest over $18 million each year to support young children and their families, from prenatal to age five, through health, early literacy, family support, and enhancing the early childhood education f

ield. We direct funding from state contracts, along with support from local foundations and private donors, to programs that make a measurable difference in early childhood development. As part of North Carolina’s nationally recognized Smart Start network, we collaborate with partners across the community to strengthen families and improve outcomes for young children through evidence based-evidence informed models. The Guilford County Partnership for Children is proud to administer the largest NC Pre-K program in the state. For high-quality early education, we offer approximately 2,166 NC Pre-K slots across hundreds of classrooms within Guilford County Schools, the Head Start program at Generation Ed, and private 4 and 5 star licensed childcare facilities across Guilford County, including Greensboro and High Point. High quality standards allow us to ensure that each classroom provides engaging and nurturing early learning experiences to promote long-term success in school. Often recognizable, our implementation of the local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL). DPIL has had an incredible impact, helping parents increase their daily reading to their children from 45% to 67% after participation. Guilford County reaches over 50% of the children in our county ages birth to five. By fostering early literacy and building home libraries, it is just another way we are laying the foundation for success.

Thank you Greensboro Chamber of Commerce for the honor of being named the Member of the Month! We are lucky to have the support of the chamber and have real discussions with our community about the importance of the early years!

It was an honor to celebrate child care providers at the People’s House last week. My budget invests in child care by strengthening programs, supporting educators, and helping families access affordable, high-quality care.

Together we can build a North Carolina that works even better for families, keeps parents in the workforce, values early child education, and sets up the next generation for opportunity and success.

📣 A Special Recognition for Family Child Care Educators in North Carolina! 🏡🍎✨

The Office of Governor Josh Stein recently issued a proclamation recognizing the vital role child care providers play in supporting children, families, and communities across our state.

Included in the proclamation is a special recognition that May 29th will officially be recognized as Family Child Care Educators Appreciation Day in North Carolina! 🎉

Family child care educators provide essential early care and education in home-based settings that nurture the healthy development, safety, and well-being of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children every day.

As we celebrate this meaningful recognition, take a moment to thank and celebrate a Family Child Care Educator who makes a difference in the lives of children and families each day. 💙 Their dedication, compassion, and commitment help build stronger communities and brighter futures for North Carolina.

Thank you to all Family Child Care Educators for the incredible impact you make every single day! 👏✨
