As the leading private, non-profit child and family services agency in the state of North Carolina, Children’s Home Society of NC provides a broad range of services but our goal is simple: to be a compassionate advocate for families. We specialize in education and prevention programs, family preservation, and adoption and foster care. Ultimately, everything we do is built on our foundational belief that strong families have the power to transform communities.

A backpack filled with supplies is important and so is the opportunity to connect with others along the way. 🎒

At a recent Back to School Bash, children in care picked out backpacks filled with school supplies while families enjoyed pizza, treats, and time together.

Events like these help build community, strengthen connections, and support families as a new school year begins.

We hope everyone has a wonderful school year!

"I'd feel happy actually, to know that a family went out of their way and chose me. I'd feel special."

Sixteen-year-old Dominic is imaginative, kind, and thoughtful. He loves reading, drawing comics and characters, and expressing his creativity through art. He also enjoys video games and hopes to one day write for a comedy show. 🎮

He wants a family that is accepting, loving, and supportive. He'd love to have siblings and hopes to find people who will encourage him, give him time to build trust, and appreciate him for who he is. Have you considered adoption? https://vist.ly/5h3si

Thank you to WXII Audrey Biesk and WXII 12 NEWS for sharing Dominic's story! Thank you to Scott for hosting us in his classic 1980s arcade.

"We don't know why some of those behaviors exist. We're just doing our best to address each situation."

Foster parents don't always have the full picture of a child's past experiences. As they build trust and connection, they're also learning how to support children whose stories may include experiences they will never fully know or understand.

As a mental health counselor, Isaac has dedicated his career to helping others. As a therapeutic foster parent, he carries that same commitment into his home.

Following in his mother's footsteps, Isaac provides stability, support, and understanding to youth facing challenges. As a single foster dad and father of two, he sees fostering as a natural extension of his calling to help others.

Passionate about being a positive role model for young Black men, Isaac approaches fostering with patience, forgiveness, and a belief in every child's potential. Read more https://vist.ly/5gduz

"I love animals, just dogs and cats really. I want to help them get better, because I don't want to see them hurt." 🐕

Thirteen-year-old Ziona describes herself as kind, funny, and joyful. She loves to sing, draw, and dance. She hopes to become a veterinarian one day so she can help animals in need. She values honesty, fairness, and clear communication. She is hoping for a family that will offer love, encouragement, and stability as she grows.

Thank you to IBM employees who spent their morning supporting children through a special employee engagement event. 🧸

Each participant created a stuffed animal that will be included in Comfort Cases provided to children entering foster care, helping offer warmth and reassurance during a difficult transition.

We are grateful for community partners who find meaningful ways to support children and families across North Carolina.

"We are literally brain builders." 🧠

For more than 20 years, Donna and Dana have welcomed children into their home, providing love, security, and the predictable routines that help children thrive.

The two see foster parenting as an opportunity to make a lasting difference, one child at a time. Their message to others is simple: children need people who will show up, care, and believe in them.
