EV Fire Blanket Explosion Hazard

The NFPA Fire Protection Research Foundation and the Fire Safety Research Institute (FRSI) issued a joint bulletin about deflagrations (explosions) that occurred during EV test burns where fire blankets were used to combat an EV test fire.

Hazard3: Our team has reviewed both delegation incidents. Our updated battery emergencies course includes tactical considerations outlining when to use, and when not to use, a fire blanket on an EV fire. In addition, we provide deployment procedures to reduce the explosion/deflagration hazard to responders.

Email [email protected] if youโ€™d like information about our Battery Emergencies course or an EV Strategy and Tactics update webinar for your agency which includes more details on EV fire blanket explosions.
