Job Title: Community Health Outreach Educator (Phlebotomist)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time Community Health Outreach Educator with phlebotomy certification to join our team. This role requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends, and the ability to work in nontraditional environments, such as outdoor locations. The ideal candidate is passionate about HIV prevention, education, and advocacy, and is committed to serving high-risk communities by providing essential outreach, testing, and support services. Must reside in the Piedmont Triad Area. (High Point/Greensboro/Winston Salem)

Key Responsibilities:

Community Outreach:

Conduct outreach in high-risk areas such as community centers, bars, homeless shelters, and locations serving s*x workers.

Engage individuals in meaningful discussions about HIV awareness, prevention, and treatment.

Build trust and rapport within the community to promote health education initiatives.

HIV Education & Prevention:

Deliver tailored HIV prevention education sessions covering transmission, risk reduction strategies, condom use, and PrEP options.

Provide individuals with accurate information to help them make informed health decisions.

HIV Testing & Counseling:

Promote HIV testing and provide on-site rapid testing services when applicable.

Offer pre- and post-test counseling, addressing concerns such as stigma, treatment options, and access to healthcare.

Support newly diagnosed individuals with guidance and emotional support.

Linkage to Care & Support Services:

Connect HIV-positive individuals with medical providers, treatment programs, housing assistance, and mental health services.

Assist clients in navigating healthcare systems and accessing necessary resources.

Data Collection & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, client demographics, and testing results.

Ensure data confidentiality while tracking program effectiveness.

Community Collaboration & Advocacy:

Establish and maintain relationships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and community leaders.

Advocate for policies that reduce HIV stigma and improve access to healthcare.

Support HIV awareness campaigns and participate in community health events.

Skills & Qualifications:

Phlebotomy certification. If not currently in possession of phlebotomy certification/training will be provided for selected candidate.

Strong communication skills to engage diverse communities in open and respectful discussions.

Cultural competency and sensitivity in working with marginalized populations.

Active listening skills to assess client needs effectively.

Knowledge of HIV prevention strategies, transmission, and treatment options.

Basic counseling skills to provide emotional support and guidance.

Ability to work independently in varied settings, including outdoor environments.

Access to reliable transportation.

Experience working with high-risk populations and understanding social determinants of health.
