Adamsleigh.....I have spent many years fantasizing about owning this beautiful mansion. I hate the thought of seeing it demolished. So much could have been done to this home. If I had the money, I would have bought it and restored it to it's once glory.

It offered so many opportunities....An event venue. Wedding venue. Restore the home and had our own little mini-Biltmore here in Greensboro. I personally would have restored the home, opened it up for tours and taken the garages and made them into a gift shop and tea room. I would have built an outdoor cathedral for weddings and parties. Restored the barns for "rustic" weddings and manicured the lawns for outdoor weddings and events.

But I was not able to buy it and follow my dreams. I wish everyone could see the beauty in old homes that can never be re-created because the craftsmanship it would take is a lost art.

I guess I will look for the next house to obsess about!

I'm devastated by this news....

After more than a decade on the market, the sprawling Adamsleigh estate has new owners.

Jason Harris, co-owner of Furnitureland South, and his wife, Jennifer, bought the 17,000-square-foot mansion on 13.5 acres along Sedgefield Country Club’s golf course for $2.41 million.

As they examine options for the property, there is a possibility that they will demolish its 90-year-old, brick Tudor-style mansion — a prospect that upsets historic preservationists.
