The first part is for those with a loved one already at BMT. The second part is for those with a loved one waiting to ship or is shipping this week!

PART 1 - *****FAQ's*****

4. My trainee is NOT getting any of my letters!! INFO ON MAIL:
What we typically see is mail is somewhat delayed in the beginning and this is COMPLETELY NORMAL! Also, if the address is different than what you were given by your trainee or what you received on the postcard DON'T PANIC!! The mail will still get there and you can use the info that your trainee gave you or the info that you can find in your TRS DG (Training Squadron Discussion Group).

5. Are you curious about banners? Tapping out? The weather in San Antonio? What to do while you are there? Shirts? WOT (Week of Training) info? How to connect with others with a loved one in the same TRS/FLT as your loved one? If you have these questions you have two fantastic options. It normally takes a day or two to be approved into the group. To help speed up the process you could message one of the admins (they are noted on the member list who is an admin) and share your trainee's name and your relationship to them and that will help get you approved faster.

One more time: STOP!!! Remember...part of the process is your commitment to read the info we provide. It may seem like a lot but it'll get you through the rough spots. So grab a seat and scroll down and start learning and preparing for your BMT journey!

Welcome to the awesome AFWM family! We are so glad that you found us!! For those of y'all that are new to the military world here is a topic on our website to help you translate some of the common terms and abbreviations:

We know you will have lots of questions. The keys to making the
journey easier are:

1. Join the AFWM family....which you've already done so YEA!!

2. {{ breathe }}....it's easy when we are stressed and anxious to forget to take some deep breaths to calm our nerves a bit.

3. Read...Read...and READ some more! We've got lots of info to share with y'all and many find it helpful to create a binder to store all the info that we share. We have maps and checklists to help you and putting them all in one spot will *hopefully* avoid some panic later when you try to find stuff.

4. Connect with others....our TRS DG (Training Squadron Discussion Groups) are an amazing place to connect with others with a loved one in the same TRS/FLT as your loved one. Once you get the address we will post more info on how to connect on our main wall so be sure and do what #3 says and read the posts!

===My trainee just arrived...when will I hear from him/her and when can phone calls come?
The initial phone call to say that they've made it safe usually occurs the day they arrive. NOT EVERYONE receives that call. The next call (which may or may not include the address) will usually be received by Sunday evening. The call is usually brief and scripted.
It is COMPLETELY NORMAL for the call to not come until Sunday.
It is COMPLETELY NORMAL for others to receive a call and you
haven't heard a thing. Just remember to ::breathe:: and keep reading.

It's always great hearing from my new Airman!
Amn Tilley will be graduating with marksmanship and honor grad. He got his job at BMT, Refuel/Bomber Maintenance. He is enjoying his family time at graduation week.
Also heard from A1C McManus, he's headed to SERE next week...enjoy the bugs and skinning a rabbit or chicken 😂.
