Recently, Gaston Association of REALTORS gave back in a big way, volunteering with Hearts 2 Home Carolinas and the Bountiful Blessings food pantry. Two organizations, one community, and a whole lot of heart.

Spotlighting a leader who has spent her career doing the hard, meaningful work of advancing this industry from every angle.

Anne Marie DeCatsye, Esq. is the CEO of Canopy Realtor Association, and her approach to the role has always centered on collaboration between passionate leaders and dedicated staff to empower members, elevate the profession, and strengthen communities.

Her national service record spans the NAR Board of Directors, the Legal Action Committee, the Association Executives Committee, and the MLS Executives Forum, among many others. What she values most about that service is the opportunity to contribute to the greater good of the industry alongside her peers.

Most recently, Canopy launched its Canopy Global program, which earned the 2025 Platinum Global Business Council Achievement Award from the National Association of REALTORS.

And fun fact, Anne Marie is number five of six children. She learned early on that she was not automatically going to get what she wanted, so she learned to collaborate and negotiate. She credits that upbringing with setting her up for everything that followed.

Today we're celebrating Theresa Burnett, AE at the Charlotte Region Commercial Board of Realtors(R).

Theresa loves working with members dedicated to excellence in commercial real estate, and that dedication shows up in everything her association does. Their recent Salute to Service event celebrated Col. Quincy Collins on his 95th birthday, honored members who have served in the military, and raised $10,000 for the Freedom Foundation.

Theresa loves to travel, but there's still nothing like coming home to her own pillow and bed. We could not agree more. Her favorite place in North Carolina is Charlotte, the city she is proud to live and work in every single day.

The storm has passed, but the recovery in Western North Carolina is far from over.

Last month, association executives from across the Southeast gathered in Young Harris, Georgia for the Regional AE Conference, co-hosted by NC REALTORS and Georgia Association of REALTORS®. From CEOs to directors to managers, attendees spent four days connecting with peers, sharing what is happening at the national and state levels, and digging into the issues and opportunities shaping local associations.
