FD13 was organized in 1950. The first fire chief was John Moore (shown on left?). They received this truck in late October 1950. It cost $7,000 with the county providing $5,000 of funding. Their fire district was identical to the Rankin School District and their fire district was named as such. They were also at times called Rankin School FD or just Rankin FD.

Today FD13 operates two stations plus a former station/admin facility. From their web site they protect some 7,700 residents and answer about 1,550 calls a year.

This past Saturday, your Fire District 13 firefighters participated in Smoke Alarm Saturday, hosted by NC OSFM. They had the opportunity to visit 28 homes in our district, install 24 smoke detectors and replace 12 smoke detector batteries.

Remember... SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES!

🚨Smoke Alarm Saturday - This Saturday - June 7th 🚨

This Saturday, Fire District 13 will be participating in "Smoke Alarm Saturday" which is a campaign hosted by NC OSFM.

📅 FREE smoke alarms and installations are available NOW through this Saturday, or until all smoke alarms are gone.

☎ Contact the Fire Station in your area to schedule your smoke alarm installation.

‼️ Why it matters: Data shows that 3 out of 5 fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms SAVE LIVES!
