HUGE thanks to Bill Ingold for producing the latest edition of our membership directory. I use it all the time and I suspect others do also.

Congratulations to Wayne Jones on his Sep 3d birthday, to Steve Mackler (31) and Gene Parker (22) on their club anniversaries and Ron and Wendy Pierce on their wedding anniversary on Sep 6th.

Our program was presented by Jerod Haase, the new men's basketball coach at UNCG. He share his philosophy on recruiting and coaching his players. Good luck with the upcoming season!

Congratulations to Charlie and Diane on their wedding anniversary on Aug 28th

Our program was presented by Leroy. He reviewed the excellent membership plan he has developed and the board has approved. It involves all members. Leroy outlined the need for all of us to invite guests. History shows that people join Rotary because someone asked them! Also, if we invite 10 guests we can expect 3 to come to a meeting and 1 to become a member.

Amanda reviewed a effort to smooth out the relationship between our club and its foundation that she and Phil are leading with help from district resources.

Celebrations: Tom Foster is celebrating his birthday on Aug 13. Mark Ryall completes his first Rotary year on Aug 12th and Mike Troxler celebrated his 40th club anniversary on Aug 1st.

Wayne Jones was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow and Jay Jones, Bill Ingold and Charlie Elliott were recognized as event sponsors of last year's Flags for Heroes event. In addition, Sunbelt Rentals and Dwight Thomas were recognized for their contributions to the FFH event.

Our program was presented by Lu-Ann Wilkinson, the director of Family Services of the Piedmont.

Celebrations: Paul Parker--8 years as a member of Guilford Rotary.

Our program was presented by our own Carey Ann Watkins. She is the Executive Director of The Basics-NC. https://www.smartstart.org/about-smart-start/
Carey shared the Smart Start program. A key feature is text notifications to parents, grandparents, etc. who want to stay involved with their loved ones who are 1-5 years old. The messages serve as reminders so that everyone involved in the lives of the little ones are providing the same message.

Carey was headed to Iowa with her teenaged daughters who are playing flag football in the Junior Olympics. We now have an in house expert on girls flag football! :)
