Nominations are now open for the 2027 Small Farmer of the Year award, one of the highest honors presented during N.C. A&T's annual Small Farms Week. The award recognizes North Carolina small farmers who demonstrate innovation, leadership, environmental stewardship and strong business management.

🌱 Did you miss yesterday's Ginger Field Day at the N.C. A&T University Farm? You're in luck! Another opportunity to learn the ins and outs of ginger production is coming to Stokes County later this month.
Along with Plum Granny Farm and the Stokes County Extension Center, we are holding another hands-on workshop that includes cutting seed ginger, planting and harvesting. We'll also hear insights into growing ginger from Ray Tuegel of Plum Granny. πŸ’™πŸ’›

At the 2026 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference in Asheville, three Extension educators were recognized for innovative programs helping youth become Beyond Ready.

✨ Keli Boone and Vicki Wiggins received the Excellence in Teamwork Award for creating Reality of Agriculture, an interactive agricultural literacy experience connecting youth to careers in agriculture, STEM, and food systems.

✨ Mark Light, Ph.D., was part of a team receiving the Educational Technology Award for transforming CLOVER by 4-H into a platform that expands artificial intelligenceI literacy and equitable access to technology education.

A&T’s Organic W**d Management Field Day to learn practical, research-based strategies for controlling w**ds without synthetic chemicals. Participants explored equipment demonstrations, organic pest management techniques, plasticulture, and integrated w**d management approaches while connecting with fellow growers.
