Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces that the Fiscal Year 2027 Financial Assistance Programs signup deadline is September 25th, 2026. Applicable programs include the:

• Agricultural Conservation Easement Program – Wetland Reserve Easements (ACEPWRE)
• Agricultural Conservation Easement Program – Agricultural Land Easements (ACEPALE)
• Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
• Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
• EQIP – Joint Chiefs’ Landscape Restoration Partnership Program (EQIP-JCLRPP)

Quarterly meeting.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2026 “Soil. Where It All Begins"” poster contest winners. 1st Place winner is Adlen Price, Moundville Elementary; 2nd Place winner is Addie Grace Rogers, Southern Academy; 3rd Place Winner is Emily McCrary, Southern Academy. We received many entries from 4th through 6th graders of our local schools. Toria Walker is the teacher of the 1st place winner.

Alabama Black Belt Prairie Initiative applications are still being accepted through May 1st.
