Guilford County EMS is the sole paramedic level provider of pre-hospital services to the entire population of Guilford County. County paramedic transport units are easily recognizable by their distinctive yellow and white paint scheme. All County EMS units are staffed by at least one paramedic. Support units are generally painted white with yellow striping to identify their role on the scene of an

emergency support units include “Medic” units that are routinely staffed with one personnel that respond to emergencies to assess and treat patients at the paramedic level until transport units arrive. Disaster and rehabilitation units are also considered support units. Guilford County EMS employs approximately 160 full-time and 50 part-time personnel.

Guilford County EMS is excited to announce the promotion of Nicholas Crawford to EMS Field Training Officer (FTO).

Crawford joined Guilford County Emergency Services in October 2022. During his Emergency Services career, he has earned 30 CPR Saves and received a Letter of Commendation.

Crawford holds an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science from Guilford Technical Community College.

Come explore fire trucks, police vehicles, construction equipment, military vehicles, emergency response units, race cars, helicopters, and so much more. Meet the people who operate them and enjoy a hands-on experience for all ages.

ACTIVE BURN BAN: GUILFORD COUNTY
Due to a regional Code Orange air quality alert, a complete Burn Ban is effective Friday 6/5/26 – Saturday 6/6/26 for all of Guilford County.
NO outside burning is permitted.
Per county ordinance, this ban will remain in effect until Saturday at midnight. The burn ban may be extended.

Guilford County EMS is proud to announce the promotion of Thomas Bohls to EMS Field Training Officer (FTO).

Bohls joined Guilford County Emergency Services in September 2020. Prior to Guilford EMS, he worked as a Community Paramedic and Field Training Officer across two North Carolina EMS systems.

There was a bit of Guilford EMS history made this morning.

When seconds matter and a patient is losing blood faster than we can transport them, our specially trained paramedics now have a powerful new tool, replacing what was lost before we ever reach the hospital doors.
This is what more than a year of planning, training, and collaboration looks like in action. We are grateful to our partners at Cone Health for helping make our whole blood program happen and determined to bring this resource to our patients in need.

Guilford EMS has received the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Award for the seventh consecutive year, recognizing our sustained commitment to quality improvement in the care of severe heart attack patients.

The award honors EMS agencies that strengthen systems of care through rapid patient identification, timely hospital notification, and coordinated early response. It is a direct reflection of the work our Paramedics, AEMTs, and EMTs deliver every day.
